Sony Ericsson Xperia Play 4G for AT&T in the US

The first edition of Sony Ericsson Xperia Play was announced with a Superbowl tv-spot in February. Sony Ericsson was rumored to pay 2.8 million USD for a 30 second TV-advert. The Xperia Play was supposed to be the device opening the North American market for the company. It would hopefully would give Sony Ericsson nice sales figures in the US. Sony Ericsson has not revealed any sales figures, but analytics think the Xperia Play sold less than expected.

The introduction of a refurbished Xperia Play 4G now with HSPA+ for AT&T could lift the sales figures slightly. It will be available online and in AT&T stores 10 days from now, on September 18Th. At the launch of the original Xperia Play, 50 game titles was PlayStation Certified and they utilized the game controls. Today when the Xperia Play 4G was announced, this number has increased to 150 game titles.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Play will be preloaded with seven games:

  • Dungeon Defenders Second Wave
  • Asphalt 6 Adrenalien
  • Star Battalion
  • Madden NFL 11
  • The Sims 3
  • Tower Bloxx: My City
  • Crash Bandicoot

The regular Xperia Play is available in white or black. Xperia Play 4G will have a stealth blue color. Included accessories are Multimedia Dock DK300 docking station and a MC100 music cable

Xperia Play 4G will be available for $49.99 on a two-year contract with minimum data plan
