Sony Ericsson today announced the C905 Cyber-shot top of the line camera model. C905 has a 8.1 megapixel camera resolution with autofocus and face detection

Sony Ericsson today announced several new mobile phones and accessories where the C905 was the device that caught the most attention. No wonder why. It has a 8.1 megapixel camera with autofocus, face detection, smart contrast and image stabilizer.

C905 seems a little large, especially the depth. Dimentions are (height, width, depth) 104 x 49 x 18 mm which are acctually a little smaller than the comparable Nokia N95. The navigation menu is familiar for many as it is the same found in earlier Sony Ericsson phones.

In contrast to Nokias new E-models announed yesterday, Sony Ericsson has dropped infrared connectivity but we have Bluetooth, USB and WLAN.

C905 camera highlights

  • 8.1 megapixel camera
  • Autofocus
  • Image stabilizer
  • Assised GPS for geo-tagging of photos
  • Xenon flash
  • Face detection. Auto focus on faces in frame
  • Smart contrast for more correct exposure

Check out the example picture we captured with the C905

"The C905 Cyber-shot and S302 Snapshot have been developed to make us all better photographers! That means making it easier to take great shots and never missing that magic moment." said Sven Totté, Head of Imaging Marketing at Sony Ericsson. "Although both have photography at their core, the phones are very distinct; the 8.1 megapixel C905 is a viable alternative to a digital camera and the S302 is perfect for those who don't want to miss a moment and like to send or Bluetooth their photos to their friends."

Very GOOD, but TOO, TOO, TOO BIG and uncomfortable - Exactly like k850i. I prefer waiting for a more slim and durable cellphone with the same traits!

Note: Don' t buy such an expensive mobile on its first releasing weeks unless you are assured that it has NOT any important software problems

To Rachel, and others complaining its java ... lets ALL hope that a finalized Firmware will support MIDP3! IF you don't know do a full search on it, read it, LEARN what it offers! You'll then be DEMANDING it considering how powerful J2ME apps have become that we all love, and then this'll be just as much a smartphone as any others, sure sophistication limits it, but hey looks very stable for Capuchin project.

Me I'm going S60 because the calendar is STILL lacking for my needs.

Its a Java Phone......not on Symbian OS as like P1i
Whats the use of only 8.1MP camera. Should have series 60 3rd edition as like nokia or On Symbian OS UIQ3 like P1i of SE.

Ok i love SE. I have a SE myself, and am pleased with it very much. But i mean when such a high end phone comes out they should try a little bit harder. They could change the normal menu crom the normal SE version. Add new features. if you were given my W850i and this the C905 without the numbers saying 2 megapixels and 8 megapixels you would hardly know the difference.

GPS enabled?

Sony Ericsson don't make any mention of that on the C902 product page.

Are you perhaps thinking of the C702, which only has a 3.something mpx camera, but definitely has GPS?

Still such a tiny lens on a 8 MP cam? I'm afraid picture quality will be even more dependent on the phone's software. A cheap compact camera will do a lot better, even with less MP's. I want my phone to make good snapshots, and for that, you don't need 8MP! I'd rather see SE improve their sensors and lenses, and make better 3 or 5 MP camphones (with bigger screens).
