The flagship model Sony Ericsson Arc previously know as Sony Ericsson Anzu will soon be announced. Meanwhile, more pictures has evolved. Official product images and no spy photos this time

The Xperia Arc, previously know as Anzu / X12 will most likely be announced during CES in a couple of days.

Update: Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc now officially announced

We probably know the most interesting details about this X10 successor smartphone allready. But let us summarize

  • 4.2 inch display
  • Android 2.3 Gingerbread
  • HD video recording (probably 720p)
  • 480 x 854 pixel resolution display
  • 8 megapixel camera with Exmor R CMOS sensor, realizing high picture quality with nearly twofold sensitivity and low noise
  • The dimentions of the device is quite impressive. If sources are telling us the truth, the thickness of the phone is 9 mm in the thickes parts on top and bottom of the phone, and only 8.7 mm thick in the smallest part middle. Remember the thin Sony Ericsson W880? Well, that model was 9.5 mm thin
  • Someone has told us the weight is only 117 gram making this the second lightest 4 inch > touchscreen mobile phone available. Weight and toughness does not often go hand-in-hand so it will be interesting to know which material the Xperia Arc is build of.

Another interesting thing about the Xperia Arc is the fact that is has Sony Mobile BRAVIA engine technology implemented. How the results of this will be in real video recording remains to be seen, but it is nice to see Sony Ericsson borrowing more expertise and technology from the mother company Sony.

Nice design by the way. For sure differentiating itself from the rest of the touchscreen devices release these days.
