Motorola PVOT Phone
5 May 2006 by axxxr Designed for developing nations, the Motorola PVOT is a hand cranked, rechargeable AA battery powered phone.
You get one minute of use for every 25 cranks.Other features include a 125 x 125 Dot Matrix LCD and an “Eraser Shield" keypad. No word yet on if this concept will go into production but it does look rather sexy. source:techeblog

On 8 May 15:40 BigRedEnd wrote I think it's a great idea and a wonderful design, if not maybe a little too fancy for the market it is aimed at. Maybe a more robust design would be better . On 8 May 14:04 Slippery wrote The ideas there but what of the cost? On 8 May 02:27 animatrix wrote Futuristic design but with AA batteries? what the f.... and by the way dudes, can we drop the idea that this phone is "for third world countries ...yes those ones where they need all the help they can get. The ones that cant just get a pack of food from the cupboard and stuff their already fat asses"..... My God give them a break! This is NOT a downgrade NOT a replacement for existing handsets but a phone for third world countries ...yes those ones where they need all the help they can get. The ones that cant just get a pack of food from the cupboard and stuff their already fat asses. Second up awesome design and brilliant idea. As said before this will be a great second phone to keep tucked away in case of emergencies.
