Coolio

How is the move to BlackBerry then Burgaz?

They don't seem to offer many features though

Kwiksta

Posted by Burgaz
Ya right not many features at all , but it's not about that for me. I got fed up with having a walkman phone i barely used the main features of!
The one thing i will miss is file transfer via BT, but there's always file transfer via email now lol! And i'm totally loving the qwerty keyboard, something that was way to difficult to use on my old p910.

Posted by Kwiksta
Oh seen

But surely if you have a BlackBerry you must be tempted to use A LOT of web I know I would lol. Which network are you on then? i assume they have good data rates.

Kwiksta

Posted by Burgaz
I'm on orange... So i'm expecting a big bill this month at least! But i'm gonna give them a ring tomorrow and talk data packages. I've been a contract customer now for 10years straight so hopefully they'll wanna help me a lil bit...

Posted by Kwiksta
Hehe lol

Wish you all the best in that mate. Hopefully they should give in

Well I'm off for the night

Cya!

I'm not getting my hopes up but hopefully i'll sort summat... Don't mind paying a lil more than my usual tariff...

Anyways have fun dude,

Catch ya later

Burgaz B. Burgasson

I was going to start this thread but you beat me to it...

As for your tariff, i think there is an Unlimited plan available but Reggie will have the answer.

And there loads of features, okay no camera on some models etc..but you just need to find them...Thats why people get BBs and give up so quickly....

I think we should post PIN in our profiles...BTW there is a few of us out there....

Fatreg
Zoots
Kaiser_man
Fairygirl_1
Dicky Snapples
etc...

Thumbs must hurt!

I've got an 8700 free through work. And i love it.
I've got a chance to get my hands on a pearl but not sure if i want one really.

Posted by p900 lover
I want to got a BB but not sure if its right for me, can someone explain the whole BB concept to me please? I know it retrieves your emails but cant you do that on a normal phone?

Posted by DickySnapples
Blackberry is secure, push email. Really easy to use(especially with the 8700's qwerty keyboard). And can access corporate email which normal phones cant. Syncs well with outlook aswell

Right i've added my BB pin to my Sig... Where's reggie when you need to talk data bundles? The only unlimited data package on the orange site is 87

Posted by fairygirl1
So can I join this thread then?? (With Tmagberry ((or whatever his name is now!)) saying "I told you so"!!)

Dont have my data plan sorted yet, stooopid O2, but getting there!

I had the pearl, and I dont think its anywhere near as nice as the 8700, so I am planning on upgrading to the 8800 pearl when I can!!

Still dont know the full ins and outs of this phone, but Im sure "he" will show me!!

For those of you who don't know much about the blackberry or just want to know more about its functions, here is a good guide to start from.

Posted by Kwiksta
It seems too complicated for me!!!

Kwiksta

Posted by Burgaz
ok i've got a question!

I've managed to send myself emails with .jpg attachments no problems. But i've just sent myself a mail with 3 mp3 ringtones attached, all about 75kb each, i i can't acces them?? Anyone know why? In the mail it says they're attached but i for some reason i haven't got the option to open attachments??

You have NO idea how much more features the 8100 offers above the 8700. Don't be tied to the independent keys try to adapt, if not IMPORT the 8800 (which has GPS built in). from the US or myself hehe.

For those that like the Pearl but still want the full qwerty independent keys, then wait until Tmobile USA ships the 8830? with GPS & WiFi

Burgaz, are setup on BES or on BIS? Also what model BB do you have? I believe the 7290's dont have native support for MP3's not sure about the 8700's. Use the USB cord and transfer the file see if it'll play. BUT with the email OPEN it go ALL the way to the bottom then click on the actual attachment icon.

Kwiksta, BB's have so many more features than you could possibly imagine.
Name me 1 just 1 other manufacturer that allows you to download firmware OLD/NEW thats supported by your phone that they will FULLY honor their warranty if it doesn't fully install or UNINSTALL by the end user. Weather or not you source the firmware from your provider or another provider!! NONE can do this, not even OEM, 3rd Party, or MS PPC type devices can go UP or DOWN and be fully supported when the firmware is add/removed ALL by the end user! That alone got me interested in BB's.

Now Im learning BES Admin - complete newb on that but learning.

i've an 8700f on orange UK, am a BIS customer,

i've also sent MP3 to my BB but to no avail..

I've got the 8700f too!

I downloaded a couple of mp3 tones i found on wap sites and they work but i cant send the ones i want easily to it! As for the usb lead... How do i access the BB from my computer? I downloaded the software for it from the BB site but i haven't installed it yet, i haven't got the disk that came with the phone it got mislaid... Should have it soon tho!

Whats this BIS business about?

Just handed my BB8700 back, it was pants! the quirky keyboard was awful, predictive SE text is easier, no camera, and not intuative, would have considerd BB Pearl, except for 1.3meg camera, just not high enough resolution, so back to using my K750i i can take the pics i need, add text and e-mail across the planet, thought i might buy a P990i, but to bulky, so now looking at the next generation Xda.
Would seriously look at M600i but again no bloody camera. Se K810i looks very interesting though, as is Nokia E90.
Trust me BB8700 is not worth the trouble.

Posted by fatreg
you need to get beyond the fact it doesnt have a cam or all the specs and you fall in love with BB..

i thought the very same as you when i got my 7290 and i was life wtf is this heap..

but you know no other phone on the planet does email quite as well as a BB..

i know i wont be changing from a BB for a while.

Think i get where you are coming from, and hey i respect your opinion, but sorry mate, tried it and couldnt wait to get rid. thankfully the company i work for now allows me a choice, for 6 months i had no option but to use BB8700 (never again).

Posted by hutchygers
whats the cheapest network to get a blackberry on? would it be t-mobile due to unlimited web n walk?

Posted by Berry
Blackberry is like the leader in Push Email, just like SE are in walkman phones....

hutychers (sorry for typo) The networks are all roughly between 10-15 for data. I think T-Mobile will probably have the hightest fair uage allowance...but if you think you can use 75mb a month then it oesnt really matter which one you get....O2 allow just a Data Plan only with no calls and texts...

The camera will come soon on an 8800 Pearl style model...but BB were always meant for the Business market until the Pearl which was based at the more consumer market......

It is all about taste though, you either hate them or love them

@ Prom1 My bad

Anyways, this thread seems to be growing nicely

does anyone know of a website that we can up load from ourpc's/mac's and download from our phones? This is the only way i can figure out to get the tones i want on my phone...

Cheers
Burgaz

Posted by Berry
This is possible but just trying to find out how...

The Blackberry Encyclopedia is being used.....

Posted by celltech
Hey All

Has anyone used a BB 8707?

Posted by Berry
I have played with one....

Why?

Posted by celltech
Tmag have you had any issues with yours?

Posted by Berry
I dont have the 8707 only played with one. I use an Unlocked 8700v with Telstra OS, tweaked a little bit...

What issues you got...?

Posted by celltech
I have picked up an issue with a certain profile 3G simcard whereby it doesn't log onto the network, I'm actually awaiting feedback from someone on this issue

Posted by Berry
hmmmm....

Not sure on that fault...do you have the function to"turn data off" in

Options -->Network--> "Turn Data Off"

Posted by fatreg
Email me whatever you want to burgaz and ill upload it!

Ill pin you my email

Try this: visit www.coolservice.dk/en/compatibilities.php from the computer there is a free file uploader. It will generate a code when the song is uploaded, then from the bb visit wap.coolservice.dk and enter the code to download the song

Posted by Berry
Also for those who are on BIS and haven't downloaded the Daylight Savings Time patch, you can go to mobile.blackberry.com from your device and get the patch

Not essential but never the less.....

Posted by DickySnapples
So who's a BIS and who's a BES?

I'm on a BES

Posted by Berry
Imagine BISBES! Confusing.

Posted by DickySnapples
bisbes? did you just make that up

Posted by fatreg
