If there are any truth in the latest rumors, Sony Ericsson will announce a dual core 1.5 GHz, 4.3 inch smartphone in March next year

Sony Ericsson to announce a 1.5 GHz dual core smartphone in March 2012 - Nozomi

Speculations and rumors are always interesting to read. And we can't end the week without giving you a good one. This week, the blog Xperiablog has posted a short specification list of an unannounced Sony Ericsson smartphone. If the specifications are correct, it will be one of Sony Ericsson's most powerful smartphones to date. Having a 1.5 GHz dual core processor in a smartphone available in six month from now does not seem unreasonable. The recently announced HTC Titan has a 1.5 GHz CPU and Samsung Galaxy S II LTE has a dual core 1.5 GHz processor. A 4.3 inch display is not out of the ordinary either. The interesting part are the resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. That is a 720p screen! The tablet/smartphone mixture Samsung Galaxy Note announced a couple of days ago has a 1280 x 800 pixel display, but the screen size of 5.3 inch is much larger than a 4.3 inch.

Sony Ericsson are seldom the company with the best specifications on paper. They are good at making camera phones, but often lack the little extra for being best in class when it comes to processor power and display features. The display specification for a phone with the code name Nozomi (all rumored phones have code names) could be what pushes Sony Ericsson up the wish list for many.

Sony Ericsson Nozomi are also rumored to have a micro-SIM and without expandable memory options. We very much doubt the memory info, and a micro-SIM is a turn off. A powerful 1750 mAh battery should give the phone a decent talk- and standby time.

No words about operating system, but Sony Ericsson is not much into Windows Phone these days, to we are guessing it will be Android for the Nozomi.

Have a nice speculating weekend!

If its being announced only in March i wonder when it will be released, June? By then Samsung and HTC will have even better devices, Nozomi better have an incredible camera or something to get people to choose it over a high end Samsung Galaxy.

This is very unlike announcing this far ahead And surely they would know technology moves at a fast pace nowadays. This will be out of date by release date.

I think March is the release date. Announced in February at the Mobile World Congress and released the next month.

somewhere i've seen draws of nokia new phones, a slim with 12mp (succesor of n8) and a flagship with 16mp at the start of 2012, I hope SE won't be the last to bring a descent camera phone to market...

I think the word Nozomi connects to this meaning -
1) wish, desire, hope, (2) prospect, expectation, (one's) hopes,
and the Japanese letters are -
望み 【のぞみ】 の no ぞ zo み mi
It is also the name of a Shinkansen Bullet Train.
Nozomi does have another meaning - 臨み 【のぞみ】(n) challenge, confrontation but I think Wish, desire and hope are perhaps what Sony Ericsson were thinking.
I am sure someone here at Esato will know different!

Just found this old thread laying around. Seems like this old rumor was spot on

Its a shame the rumour wasnt of a 1.6ghz quad core Tegra 3 handset though.. and that turned out to be true.
The Xperia S is a good phone, not pretty, but its not a patch on the HTC One X imo.

Indeed, and to make it worse its getting Android4.0 in late Q2, so its also behind last years flagships Sensation, Sensation XE, GS2, GNote and even Arc S, even LG is ahead of them with the Optimus 4X HD.

I dont like how its made though, too square and uncomfortable to hold. The One X is just so much better designed.
I cannot believe that for once HTC have made something which feels higher quality than a company like Sony.
What next year ? ZTE making higher quality phones than Samsung ?
Whats with the Xperia S rear cover ? the whole thing comes off to reveal a micro sim card slot ONLY !!
Tsepz_GP12 years ago
I never quite understood why they did that, they could've just created a slot on the side or top and reduced the phone's size.
Personaly i have always liked HTC's designs since the Hero, had a thing for the Desire HD, i especialy liked the look and feel of the Sensation and i realy liked the Sensation XE, i tried so hard to wait for it but HTC SA were so quiet and unclear about it i just went with the GS2, but still prefer XE's design and build quality, and the One X seems even better, im loving it to, but HTC just like Sony went and left out the MicroSD slot

I have a bad feeling Samsung will do the same with the Galaxy SIII, which would be a shame as my girlfriend recently bought me a 32gb micro SD card for my birthday.
