Ericsson's M-USE service

1 December 2004 by axxxr
European operator Tele2 today launched Ericsson's mobile music service M-USE.

The service, which is branded "MusicBox" by Tele2,
allows Tele2 customers to easily download a wide variety of music
content from BMG, Sony Music, and Warner Music to their mobiles.
Content from additional record labels will be available soon. The
"MusicBox" service, which can be found on top of Tele2's mobile
portal GoLive, is integrated, hosted, and managed by Ericsson.

With M-USE, Tele2 can now offer its customers a large selection of
mobile music content from many of the world's most popular artists.
Unlike traditional download services, M-USE learns about each user's
music taste and then recommends music titles that match each user's
taste. And, with music content from international stars such as
Destiny's Child, REM, and Britney Spears as well as from local acts
such as Gunther & The Sunshine Girls, Christian Walz, and Magnus
Uggla, Tele2's customers are sure to find the sounds they crave for.

All music content found in the M-USE service is original music
recordings. Starting today, Tele2 customers can download a variety of
realtones (ring tones playing the original music), polyphonic ring
tones, StarMMS (artist pictures and music clips), as well as artist
greetings and artist news.

Developed by Ericsson in cooperation with the music industry, M-USE
is a unique, white label music service. It comes with a complete
solution for delivery, billing and revenue distribution. The service
is part of Ericsson's managed services offering and is integrated,
hosted and managed by Ericsson. Ericsson takes the overall
responsibility for the music service, including content aggregation,
Digital Rights Management (DRM) and platform development.

"M-USE is a great example of how Ericsson works together with the
media industry and the operators to bring great new mobile
experiences to consumers around the world," says Hans Vestberg,
Senior Vice President and General Manager, Business Unit Global
Services. "By providing and hosting premier content and services for
operators, we support them in executing rapid and effective launches
of new consumer services."

Ericsson has the most comprehensive managed services offering in the
telecom industry, covering management of day-to-day operations of a
customer's network sometimes including a managed capacity service for
an efficient network build out and on-demand capacity, as well as
hosting of applications and content management.

Ericsson is shaping the future of Mobile and Broadband Internet
communications through its continuous technology leadership.
Providing innovative solutions in more than 140 countries, Ericsson
is helping to create the most powerful communication companies in the
