Welcome to the 8th year of Esato’s long running Sony(formerly Sony Ericsson) rumors. Sony created a lot of noise on what the fans would call the real comeback year for the company on 2013, This thread continues the legacy of providing the readers with the hottest news about up and coming Sony devices from the rumor land. I will be the 7th person to manage this thread after shaliron (2007), goldenface (2008 and 2011), Muhammad-Oli (2009), se_love (2010), Ricky_D (2012), and randomuser (2013). I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my predecessors as well as the community sources for their awesome work and contributions. XPERIA Rumor Grading system reference XR1 = possibly fake rumors, very low chance of being real XR2 = rumor from unknown sources XR3 = 50% chance it is correct XR4 = rumor from known sources XR5 = almost certainly correct! it sounds awesome... but i don´t think people will need to transfers files at speeds from 375 Mbit/s. its sounds unnecessary... people don´t store files that large in a phone

The benefits of TransferJet for me personally would be endless for example. I have just down loaded a movie to my Vaio laptop and i want to transfer to my Xperia Smartphone or tablet all done in seconds with out the need for a data cable or removing my SD card. I could then share it with friends and family with just one touch check out this video that Sony released last year in what it can be used for

Think about it this way. You can transfer an entire album of photos, music or videos in seconds. I'd say there definitely is a use.

Think about it this way. You can transfer an entire album of photos, music or videos in seconds. I'd say there definitely is a use.

besides, you need the two devices to have the capability to transfer data at those speeds. if only one has it, it won't mean anything.

Second, great job with the first page razec!
I wonder what new technologies will be in 2014 Xperias, flexible screens? new sensor tech? hopefully we get to see ZU pencil input on more devices, although not necessary, it's a nice thing to have as an extra feature.

Good day all!
I've been following esato since the Arc S onwards and after so many phones from Sony, I'll finally be diving into a new one with the Z1. Sony's finally producing phones I would personally consider top notch, and I'm very much hoping they'll continue to build upon this in 2014. I would hope some of the features we'll see in next years phones include xenon flashes using those new super slim designs, larger internal memory capacity options (128 gigs like the ZX1 Walkman please!), OLED or White Magic displays (or both) in the flagship models, and the return of IR blasters to flagship phones. I envy those with the ZL for that feature.
I do have to wonder if Sony will continue with the omni-balance design or if they'll go for something else. It seems like every year they'e been going a new route, but of course those were based mostly upon Sony Ericsson designs.
BTW regarding the Tablet Z successor mentioned in the OP, can someone remind me when we got confirmation on pen/pencil input like that used on the Z Ultra? I have no doubt they'll do it as it's an extremely logical step, but I just don't recall confirmation.

Thanks for the warm reception, I'll be doing my best managing the thread for a year, I could say my experience managing the then 2009 concept thread helped. but your support is what makes every rumors thread successful.
for some reason, when using tables as Shotokan81 suggested, the post gets the problematic spacing between the title image and the table itself, so until I find a fix to resolve the issue, I'll stick to the venerable list

Personally, Xenon flash is good if it's detachable, with tiling head and built in diffuser for soft light which is awesome for portraiture. I don't see any reason for a built in xenon flash especially if it's not going to be that powerful enough given the size limitations

I am a bit confused with specifications of Z1f given on sites like techradar, cnet, gizmodo (I am no expert in tech sites, they may have given wrong info). They mention Qi wireless charging for Z1f. What do you think guys? Given its thickness could it be a possibility?

@itsJustJOH, Yeah true, I will be taking care of the upcoming 2013 announcements (if there would still be) from now on. the thread will be quiet until the first batch of info start spreading, but as we've already expected the stricter internal policy assures that there will be no more leakage of pics, spyshots and/or UI, but I'm expecting that there will still be leaks of specs and etc. and because of that I'm hiring all volunteer designers for the rendering efforts

i see sony maybe implementing bigger camera sensor and xenon flash if they start to use JDI's "pixel eyes" panel because it will make the display panel thinner to my understanding - i predict in a Q4 2014 flagship device. also i read some time ago that some company completed development of a new xenon module that is thinner and maybe will be used in late 2014 mobile devices. that way companies won't have to sacrifices in more thickness for xenon flash, bigger camera sensor, etc... correct me if i'm wrong.

IIRC they're just going to begin mass producing those ultra slim xenon flashes late 2013, so we likely won't see them in any devices until sometime in 2014.

At best, don't expect to see Z series with xenon before 2015. For 2014 "tick" phase Sony will probably introduce larger and "better" screen IGZO, larger battery and that's about it. For "tock" phase (fall 2014) we may see OIS as well. Of course, that's my pure speculation.
