Does the phone support file transfer through bluetooth , or not because of Android 1.6?

It appears BT file transfer is a feature added to Android 2.0 and hence not available on Android 1.6.

It will probably be available trough hacking even on Android 1.6.

That's just my assumption.

If there is a way to root X10 1.6 ROM, maybe...

If this thing does not have Bluetooth then I wont be buying it, who do Google they think they are Apple!

I saw a youtube video... can't remember which 1 and they were demonstrating the x10 being able to send a file via bluetooth...

Cheers
ENJOY

It will have Eclair so it means it will support it:

Hmm I am not sure about the validity of some of this, there seems to be a view that Motorola have a deal with Google to the effect that, Motorola get Android 2 exclusively for their droid device for an unspecified period so how can hope to get this thing out in Q1 2010 (Not that they have ever hit a launch date yet!) and I am sure I read that only Android 2 handles BT File Transfer and Phone to Phone BT? Otherwise this thing looks very good not sure why did not build in a radio though perhaps the thought of no "over priced Duo Pro" sales was too much to bear, and they had to grab some cash back in the shape of the pony add on radio headset.

The X10 will have support for Bluetooth file transfer. Android 1.6 does not support this, so this particular feature will be developed and implemented by Sony Ericsson.

I am afraid that this means the X10 WON'T be shipped with Eclair. Anyone shares my opinion?

Regarding BT file transfer I don’t really know the details around android versions and support for it, I’ve heard the same as you though.
However – my X10 here can sure send e.g. photos over bluetooth, just tried it to my PC here minutes ago. So I guess we’ve added it on top of Android if Android 1.6 don’t support it.

The X10 white paper states this:
BluetoothTM profiles supported:
Advanced Audio Distribution Profile,
Audio/Video Remote Control Profile,
Generic Access Profile,
Generic Object Exchange Profile,
Handsfree Profile,
Headset Profile,
Object Push Profile

I think I am going to pass on the X10 until it is supplied with Android 2.
It is sad but I no longer have any faith in and their ability to develop SW, I am not an hater or a flamer as some suggest. But a once satisfied customer who has owned a T681 a T610 all the P series and all the Symbian W series.

My point is I am simply no longer prepared to keep playing with my phones until I get it right! Sony Ericsson need to wake up to the fact that iPhone customers do not have to go through this nonsense when they buy their phones (And I was one of the biggest critics of Apple on the planet!)

The smart phone market has matured and the game has moved on, so Sony Ericsson YOU need to start listening to your customers and start getting your products right first time, or simply you will not be around to make too many more mistakes

Please, IPhone isn't exactly the best example of "do not have to go through this nonsense" stuff. How long did it take to release simple features such as MMS and cut&paste ? And how about BT ? Does it support any other profiles than headset yet ?

Just face it, as long as you don't make your own phone, you will always have to put up with whatever crap the manufacturers are stuffing up your nose. Sad, but true if you ask me.

But after all it couldn't be implemented... You know they know to make a suprise when you expect it at least... I am a fan you all know that, but I just don't think that they will implement such feature. In the last period they have screwed so many "would be good" phones just for little software issues they didn't wanted to fix because they needed money earlier.

P.S. I sounded like I hate but it's the opposite. I love them... Anyway, let's hope they don't screw this one too...

X10 preview pics showed an icon of a BT app that can transfer files(it's a free app on the Market anyway)
OS 2.1 update WILL give full BT to the X10 without passing by a third party app

Posted by D.Dark
I saw that icon too but I'm not entirely sure if it does what you said

I can confirm that the X10 supports bluetooth transfer out of the box. It does not matter that the OS is 1.6, BT file transfer is enabled by Sony Ericsson and not the OS. And yes, I know that 1.6 does not support BT file transfer.

Does anyone believe SE will deliver Android v2.0 to X10?
And what about v2.1?

Used to own P990i and X1..

I can confirm Bluetooth file transfer is supported. I used it this morning to transfer some photos from my X10 to my Mac. So there you go.

Can you please let me know how to add the bluetooth devices in Xperia X10... since Whenever I add the status showing as Paired but not connected. Awaiting for your reply! Thanks

You can use an app like Bluetooth File Transfer (found n Market) for your file transfer need. It may also happen your PC may require an updated BT driver (mine did).

Posted by Tsepz_GP
The big X10 has Bluetooth file transfer straight out the box.
