It looks hot and the price is hot

Posted by xell
Just received my review unit... it's an awesome little thing.
I just wish it would be a tad heavier. I'm used to C902 & T650's weight.
Posted by xell
I sooo like it.

@xell
That does look WOW...
Cheers

Is it just me or T700 really looks like C702?

It's just you

Love this phone and eager to go back to SE instead of Samsung

Lol - I have just gone back to my beloved K800 from a Samsung Soul!
The T700 looks nice!

Hello,
I don't get why people say it doesn't have a front camera for video calls? What's the little circle on the top right of the phone then?
Posted by Muhammad-Oli
The light sensor.

Posted by turt
Oh I didn't know it had light sensor...
Anyway who uses video call?

Posted by LaGuNa
On the SE website a camera for video calls is mentioned so i suppose it can do that, so ppl who say it doesn't have that option are just ignorant

It may have video calling, but have you tried to video call without the front camera? It's a pretty pointless exercise and will simply prevent people from using the feature. My son's 6234 had one-way video calling and it was a dismal failure IMO. By contrast the video calling on the V640i is simply superb and massively underrated. For details on V640i video calling see the link in my signature to my V640i review.

I must admit that I've fallen in love with this phone! It might not be a match for the current batch of smart phones but its simplistic lines and stunning design hark back to the golden age of

It costs a shade over $200 in some shops out here.. gotta pick one up! Does anyone know if an Abyss Blue/Black combo is in the works?

I just love the chrome colour of T700i
Looks very eye catching, but i hope the loudspeaker doesn't sound like the old thin W880i

someone here got T700?
I would like to know if it can take a pic of ducoments and can understand the text although it doesnt have AF/Macro.
I have to take many pic of ducoments during my job .
Thanks

I have been using one for a few weeks - the resolution is sharp enough to read text on documents if you get the light/distance/focus right....

i fallin love for the first sight on the T700,the shining silver one is really beauty.
but then i found out that this phone doesn't have AF,even front videocall cam.
im using K610i right now,and for an upgrade i want a phone with AF
why SE make such a beauty phone, but didn't put a proper cam in it.....

they did it on T650,why not on this one?
Posted by Arne Anka
Because T700 is supposed to be a bit on the cheaper side compared to T650 when it was new.
Posted by Bhavv
What is better about the T650i then the T700? I thought the only difference is the HSDPA on the T700.
Posted by Bhavv
Yay! Here it is =D
It looks soooo much nicer in real life. Best phone I ever bought.

I got the Black on Silver, and regretted it later because the Red on Black looked a lot nicer in the pictures. But I dont regret it anymore because of how perfect the phone looks. Pictures on the internet arent as good as the actual phone is, the Black on Silver is a great looking handset, and I am sure the Red one is too.
I'm deffinately not keen on the Shining Silver version though, because the shiny brushed Black metal is just too good - The real choice is between Black on Silver, or Black on Red. Best thing to do is to wait untill it is available in stores and compare them all yourself and pick your favorite.
Royal Mail messed up my delivery, it took 8 days to arrive since dispatch and I was thinking it was lost in mail. But it wasnt and it arrived at last. I'll have pictures taken from my K800i up in a bit, plus I'll compare the cameras - But the T700 doesnt have either AF or Flash, but the LED light on it is very powerful.
Oh, also, I am relieved that I didnt get the asian version of the handset. It is the european one with a universal charger in the box, but a seperate UK charger provided for free by the E tailer. All the manuals and everything on the phone is in full English with no Chinese anywhere (except for made in China stickers), and the manual says that warranty is provided from Sweden, so it looks safe for warranty service withing Europe

I bought a t700 awhile ago. I noticed when i plugged the charger, it displays the message CHARGING and not the usual
OPTIMIZED CHARGING..
Anyone encountered this?
Posted by Bhavv
Mine only says charging as well, I think they must have changed it.
Its a very sweet phone, I really want a red one too lol.
Posted by WhiteEye
GSM Arena said it records video in QVGA@15fps, while SMAPE said QVGA@30fps. Could anybody confirm, please? Thank you.

Hmm, bit of a misnomer this one. I'm not sure how exactly they get away with calling this stereo. There's a speaker at the front in the earpiece and a second at the back at around the same height. Message alerts, ringtones when received are played through the rear but when listened 2 from your file browser (or music in the same way) is played through the front. Strange? Very! Usefull? Doubtfull. I've had my T700 for about a month now and have 2 admit I love it. Fantastic phone to text with. Far superior to the T650, dimples on my thumbs from the keypad on that were becoming a pain lol
Posted by crossmatched
OPTIMIZED charging is different from plain charging..
The other phones released this 4th quarter (c905, w902, w595, x1, w302), do they not make use of OPTIMIZED charging?
Is it only T700 that exhibit this non-optimized charging?
Posted by se_love
Im sure they do! Optimized charging is used in a lot of the walkman and cybershot phones. This only charging thing must be due to the model being non suppoerted by other brands such as cybershot or walkman.
Posted by Bhavv
The stereo speakers are the two holes on the bottom centre of the rear of the phone. Thats where my sound is coming from. I thought the video capture is QVGA 15, no way that a phone this cheap will be 30 fps.
No, im wrong about the speakers, what are those two holes on the bottom of the phone then?

Actually mate, optimized charging have been around SE phones for a long time. (since s700/k750/w800 days not sure though bout k700)

Speaking about the speaker.. Is it good enough? Gsmarena says that the 'tin can' sound comes from the speaker which is disadvantage.. Is it that bad? Or is it still on par with the w890? And how do you compare it with k630 or v640 coz I have one.. Many thanks
Posted by Bhavv
Well, ive only owned k series phones before this one, but the sound is tinny, but also pretty clear, crisp and decent. The earphones that come in the box are quality ones as well. The sound is definately one speaker on the front and back, which isnt really stereo unless you hold the phone sideways.
Posted by hwars
Stereo from front and back speaker.. This is pretty much like w890.. So I guess the sound will be the same a bit either..
Well thx anyway man..

just got a Shining Silver for about US$ 205 here. very sleek and light on weights.

I emailed SE a few days ago regarding the T700 availability in the UK. Finally got a reply and apparently we will get it in the UK end of January/February 09. Hopefully this is correct as it certainly would save the hassle of importing one.

Actually Play.com has had it for a while.

Yep you are correct on that. I've been watching PLAY.com for a while. However there's just a couple of things about PLAY.com.
1. PLAY.com are not in England/Scotland/Wales/Ireland. They are in Jersey (still part of the UK though but an island off the English coast) hense the cheaper prices. They do not provide UK spec handsets/deskstands. They import them from Europe.
2. The phones are not UK spec. They are mostly loaded with Swiss firmware or some other non UK firmware that also has English language support.
The above is from experience with PLAY.com and also confirmed by more than one of their employees.

Had anyone tried the videocall with T700? I mean, you must choose:
1) to watch the other person and not show yourself because camera is only in the back side
2) or to show yourself without watching the other person
What do you choose?
Anyway.. Really stupid solution.. I sent a remark to SE about that. Maybe they can add the frontal camera in the successor of T700.

It's good to know. Also to add I had an N82 purchased from them that had a fault. Nokia repaired within the UK so warranty must not be an issue? I always thought Jersey was part of the UK? not sure though as I wasn't born here.

I'd never buy electricals from Play.com. Only cd's, dvd's, figures and memory cards I buy off them. Did buy some

Bit of info on Jersey

The Bailiwick of Jersey is a British Crown dependency off the coast of Normandy, France. As well as the island of Jersey itself, the bailiwick includes the nearly uninhabited islands of the Minquiers, Écréhous, the Pierres de Lecq and other rocks and reefs. Together with the bailiwick of Guernsey it forms the grouping known as the Channel Islands. The defence of all these islands is the responsibility of the United Kingdom. However, Jersey is part of neither the UK nor the European Union; rather, like the Isle of Man, it is a separate possession of the Crown. Jersey belongs to the Common Travel Area.

@WE,
Are you sure you get it for US$205?
In Bali, the island besides you, it's only US$ 171 (2.1jt, kurs rupiah 12.500?)

But W890 (it's copy-paste phones) are priced around US$236 (2.9jt.) Strange, isn't it?
