As I see it, this phone is clearly a winner if only none of the other manufacturers are going to release a 8MP phone in the near future and if the price of C905 is at an acceptable level

Honestly, I'd take the C905 even if it's camera was a little worse than a competitor phone just because I love

So in my opinion, if the c905 camera is decent, and the price isn't through the roof, I'd say it's a winner.

Yes, but if Nokia or another brand release a phone with 8.0mp and symbian with Scalador software?
I read about this: "Symbian licenses Scalado software to deliver picture perfect mobile imaging Symbian OS even more attractive for mid-range mobile phones"
LUND, SWEDEN and LONDON, United Kingdom – 11 June 2008 - Symbian Limited, the market leader in open operating systems for mobile phones, has signed a licensing agreement with Scalado for its mobile imaging software affording Symbian OS™ state of the art image handling capabilities, making Symbian an even more attractive mobile OS choice for mid-range devices.
Scalado’s solution for Symbian OS will significantly improve Symbian’s imaging performance for higher megapixel images. It will deliver faster rendering, scaling and rotation and superior image editing features - with the added benefit of reduced memory consumption. Importantly, Scalado’s patented Random Access JPEG technology allows imaging operations to occur while the image is in compressed form, greatly reducing RAM consumption.
Retroactive to Symbian OS v9.3 and v9.4, the three year licence ensures benefits for end-users and handset manufacturers alike and is free of any additional royalties. End users will enjoy higher usability while handset manufacturers will see a cut in hardware costs. Under the terms of the deal, Symbian and Scalado will create a joint team of highly skilled imaging and camera engineers to enhance and extend Symbian's camera and imaging offering.
Mats Jacobson, CEO of Scalado, commented; “Consumers today expect mobile phone cameras to perform just as well as digital still cameras. Building on our existing long and fruitful partnership, this new initiative sees Symbian and Scalado working together to ensure that the leading mobile OS will deliver the beauty of high quality and high speed image handling with full connectivity and sharing options to consumers.”
Jørgen Behrens, Executive Vice-President, Marketing, Symbian, commented; “This licensing agreement will benefit both handset vendors and end-users - reducing cost and memory consumption in handset development and offering advanced image handling capabilities in high megapixel camera devices to end-users. It's another great demonstration of our commitment to offering the best mobile technology possible in Symbian OS and to helping the mobile industry succeed.”
About Symbian Limited
Symbian is a software licensing company that develops and licenses Symbian OS, the market-leading open operating system for mobile phones.

Maybe when C905 will be release a Nokia has released a 8mp phone too..

From looking at the photos on GSM arena of the guy holding the phone, it really doesn't look as thick as i first thought, i cant wait!!!
I don't care what colour i get now, i just want 1!!!

I can't find the C905 on the British SE site anymore. It was never posted on the US site. Maybe they're fixing the typos and freq. band inconsistencies?

do

have those been fixed yet anyone know?
looks like my N95 could be going redundant to this!!!
shame the memory isn't great though

SE has made me so excited. If this is signs of things to come (rather than the heights) then I am even more anxious. I am tired of Nokia coming out on top with their releases as of last year.

Sony Ericsson never had an issue with the sliders. They were always top quality (maybe not so much the S500 & W580), but look at the W850 and W910.
The only keypad issue I seen in Sony Ericsson is again with the W580 & S500. But most of the time, I find Sony Ericsson keypads way better than Nokias. Besides, GSMARENA has said that the C905 has an excellent keypad.
Memory can always be expanded via M2 cards.

I hope SE wins the battle too. Kind of like when they released k750.
The question now is what would be C905's Walkman counterpart?

IF thats the loudspeaker, then where is the microphone?! I thought that was the microphone, a new design for the port to reduce/illiminate wind-noise during conversations.
Also memory is a WOPPING 128MB (around there)!!

I was just about to ask the same when I saw your post

Maybe they swapped them around so the mic is up at the top of the phone? They will get a lot of complaints from customers that the other party can't hear a word they're saying...

What is that colorful expression they have for this in the US? Can I say that SE scr*wed the pooch?

as said above,

the early bathces of s500's werent the best, but as time went on, and more batches were released, the slider got stronger. same with the w580. and its only on these 2 phones which keypads cracked.
gsmarena preview states the keypad oon c905 is quite tactile.

I think you should be happy if SE delivers the video at QVGA @ constant 30fps. Otherwise, it may end up as QVGA @-occasionally-30 fps-but-mostly-15fps like what happened in K850.

I don't think you should take that chart so seriously. Its obvious that the phones are not accurately put onto the chart, they are just laid out in a way that looks nice.

About the soft version,is it A2 CID 53 ?
So it could be compatible with XS++ 3.2?

What about the processor? I'm always interested in processor and memory (ram). So, it's ~128ram, and need to know CPU speed.

dunno why people are comapring it to the n82..the n82 is slightly ahead of the k850 in terms of picture quality..this one is ages ahead..
perfect details if you say so...with photo flash+photolight+xenon
now its SE's flagship vs nokia's
c905 vs n96

Sony Ericsson Japan has already added 3x optical zoom in SE so905ics and VGA video ( 30fps ). They can add this in C915 or C955...

Cool yes - effective? Strangely, yes...to an extent
Even with decent optics, and the 'Bending lens technology' adopted from Sony's 'Cyber-shot' Cameras - the Optical Zoom still degrades quality...slightly - although, I strongly disagree that its an acceptable omission from the mighty C905.
Here are a few examples:
No Zoom Used:
3x Optical Zoom:
1x Optical Zoom:
3x Optical Zoom:
No Zoom Used:
3x Optical Zoom:
So, as you can see - its is effective, but to be honest - one hardly ever uses it. Ill try and take some shots in Ginza tonight, show you all how it fares in low light Zoom.

During the C905 announcement, a Sony Ericsson guy mentioned something about the C905 having similar chip as Sony Alpha. He didn't know for sure, but he thought he could recall someone mention this internaly in Sony Ericsson. It is for sure not the image sensor as the smallest Sony Alpha sensor dimentions are 23.6 x 15.8 mm. That would not fit into the C905. It could be the Sony Bionz image processor. Or it could be he got it all wrong..
