Another PK Mini-Review this time of the W890i Phone

Plenty of pictures of the Beauty so 56k users pls forgive me (if u still exist)

Not the best reviewer but done me best for ya

Played with the retail version for around a week,

Overall very impressed with the size, looks, camera, media player and the buttons compared to the W880i

Right, enough of the intro! now some pics and vids

Enjoy dudes

Download 2 videos recorded with the W890i:

Sorry for the amount of pics folks, couldn't resist

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now the boring bits:

W890i Main features:

HSDPA, EDGE, HSCSD, Bluetooth
Smooth slim body
Solid construction
Quad-band GSM
3.2 megapixel camera
Location services, Smart search
Media center, Walkman 3.0
SensMe tempo and mood detector, TrackID
FM radio
2GB M2 card included
Quick photo browser
9.9 mm thick
weight 78 g

Applications/Games:

File manager, Alarms, Applications,
Video call, Calendar, Tasks, Notes, Synchronization,
Timer, Stopwatch, Calculator, Code memo,
MusicDJ, VideoDJ, TrackID, voice recorder, Music Mate 4.
Games: Lumines Block, Sims 2 & Tennis Multiplayer

Good points for me:

W890i uses the Access NetFront HTML browser, this time with the latest 3.4 version.
The main improvement here is the integrated virtual mouse pointer. Thumbs up from me
Really easy to work with and even the small font doesn't spoil the user-friendly web browser.
Phonebook can store up to 1000 entries with a total of 7000 phone numbers.
Flash lite Themes always a pleasure to have. a few new themes avaialble. (may share later)
have designed another beauty, turns heads for sure. Sleek and Sexy, user friendly.
Ideal phone to slip into your pocket for the night out, and various colours to choose from
Radio and the New Media Player suit the phone well.
HSDPA and quad-band GSM support well appreciated
New back cover locks goes well with the looks.
battery life seems decent, 1 charge in over 3 days.
Buttons will not crack, guaranteed

A few bad Points:

Office documents eg Word, Excel and PDF cannot be opened.
No Autofocus
No Autorotate on the Media player
Speaker very similar to the W880i, not bad with the headset though
No Shake Feature
To take M2 card out, back plate needs to be removed!
Fastport on side, prefer it on the bottom.

Overall score from me: 9/10
W890i Phone gets a Big Thumbs up from me.

Any Q's please ask!!

Nice review PK - lots of pics as always

Looks like the W890 performed better than your digital cam in some pics

Posted by PeterKay
My camera is really cr@p, sorry about that.

Anyone want to give me a new camera for the X1 review?

Posted by Mizzle
Hmm, I guess the Esato community would be able to donate something for a cam for you

We can only hope

w890i flash menus can be found Here

Posted by yagi
What's the software version of your phone?

Posted by jakontil
hi PK how do u compare with the w910 and w960 in terms of loudspeaker? is it still comparable? or it's way too soft?

all the flash menus are similar with w910 rite? what is it called? A200 platform?

thank PK, nice reading!

Posted by PeterKay
Loudspeaker i would say is not as good as the w910i or the w960i, maybe the size of the device is the main issue? the audio is clear but not as good as the 2 models.

Best speakers for me on phones (best first):

W960i
K850i
W580i
S500i
W910i
W890i

I don't have the appropriate tools to test audio apart from my 2 ears

Nice review, PK.

In case anyone wants to see them, here are the new flash menus:

First one's Bronzy. You know, the usual spinning and pop-out circles.
Second one's called Purple Sky and has them spinning circles, too, but while navigating, the icons flip in the respective direction. 'Tis very cool.

Posted by PeterKay
Prefer Purple Sky myself

Yeah, it suits the silver W890 better, while Bronzy suits the brown one.

More info on the speaker tests, this is taken from GSMarena:

hey Pk, thanks for the review! As I used to love my good old W880 I´m thinking of getting this beauty. But as an owner of the W910 Im not sure whether it is worth the swapping. Which one do you like better?

Posted by PeterKay
between the w910i and w890i i would go for the w890i, much easier and keys are much better.

Posted by PeterKay
The new web browser is brilliant, don't know if anyone else has noticed? much easier to use with mouse pointer on the such a small screen, looks brilliant and better than the w880i browser, excellent update from

Posted by G-Izzat
Great review, mate. The camera of the W890 is quite impressive. Does the media player lag while you're browsing through the tracks?

Is the brown version out yet?

Posted by ocean21
hey PK, can i ask for your advice? Which phone do you recommend for me between w890 and c702 as both phone specs are quite similar. At first I'm thinking 'bout getting a w760, but from the review I've read it said that the camera is awful and the speaker is not as great as I think. Thank you

Posted by XtrAMassiveX
Hi,
I have this w890i brown version and its great
But if i choose one of those themes with flash menus i dont get flash menus . There is still that normal menu with its icons. Does anybody know why?
See ya.
