Another group of Samsung videos advertising for the Galaxy S II Android smartphone was uploaded to YouTube. iPhone fanboys should not watch this one

Samsung Galaxy S II comercial - iPhone line

We think it was quite funny when Samsung USA released the first of many Galaxy S II commercial videos aimed at U.S citizens. The first video uploaded in November last year was making fun of customers standing in line in front of an Apple Store to get the latest iPhone first. Some of the phrases in these videos have already become classic: "I am creative. You're a barista", "We just got Samsunged".

The latest two videos are about camping. Not real camping, but the camping you do in line to get the new phone. Apple is not mentioned with one word in the commercial, but all the "other guys" are wearing the recognizable white ear-plugs.

The Samsung Mobile USA Youtube channel has now twelve videos to enjoy. They have been viewed over 2.8 million times.

I'm sure these adverts do a very good job of making people that were only ever going to buy the Samsung anyway feel great about themselves
Tsepz_GP12 years, 3 months ago
Hmmm...nah.
They are funny though.
This reminds of the BMW vs. Merc ads where they went at each other , im a BMW Fanboy, but i found them all hilarious, just gota love comperative advertising when its done well.

Do such people even exist ? not meaning fanboys of course, but mere followers of such a strong brand identity as Apple's ? i doubt it, no other phone maker apart from Apple seem to have created these 'drone' followers. No ?

I Must be the Only girl in the world that really hates that fugley looking SG2
HTC Sensation still kicks it upday butt! (Way Nicer phone then that Plastic kak thing)
Bonovox12 years, 3 months ago
Actually in speed tests the GS2 came tops above the Sensation
Miss UK12 years, 3 months ago
I don't care its a plastic pile of Kak!!!!
im actually hating samsung alot more I want Apple to KILL them of the planet!!!!
etaab12 years, 3 months ago
Bonovox is correct. I dont think theres been any HTC Android phone that betters the SGS2 in benchmarks. AFAIK anyway.
Oh and you're not the only lady i know who doesnt like the SGS2 Miss UK - my girlfriend hates its size and shape also. But she also hates iPhones and their brand identity also.

When I upgraded im glad I went for the HTC
that SGII was a massive plastic Slab and infused with a horrible system!
HTC Sense is WAY BETTER!!!!!!!!!
regardless of bench tests the HTC is a winner overall
I used to be uncertain of the iPhone but after owning 2 now
I reckon its a good device of my own use
samsung are only using this advertising now cos of all the courts cases against them
im sure apple will sue them for this now aswell (I hope they do too)
etaab12 years, 3 months ago
I dont understand your logic. I can understand you prefer Sense over Touchwhiz, but apart from that i cannot understand how else a HTC Sensation would best a SGS2. The HTC has a worse screen, worse camera, worse build quality, worse overall performance etc if you follow what im saying.
Also the original Sensation is longer and thicker than the SGS2, so the HTC is more deserved of the title massive, lets not even mention the Sensation XL which is even bigger !
As for Samsungs commercials, i think they're very good regardless of how offensive they may be to Apple. It shows just how laid back Samsung are and take the whole thing as a joke and are able to take a more light hearted view on the whole debacle that is the legal war between the two companies.

I didn't mean to suggest there are legions of devout Samsung followers out there, I guess a more accurate description would be people who were never going to buy the iPhone either way..
As it happens I don't particularly believe in 'drone' followers of any kind, but there's plenty of evidence that potential Samsung customers do, hence the targetted appeal of their advertising

What evidence is that then ?

That's mearly an opinion, does not mean it IS better. Sales suggest otherwise. The GS2 is plastic but it's well built & the Sensation XL is much bigger slab wise As for the horrible system it's still Android the same OS. I myself do prefer Sense over TW but Sense does lag more as it has so much overlay

You believe in Apple's "drone followers", judging from your posts you either bought or would consider buying an SGS2, and heck, you also admit liking the adverts. You sir are the evidence!
Miss UK12 years, 3 months ago
There wasn't much in the displays the Samsung was a tiny bit better
the HTC had the further option of reading smaller tiny text over the samsung!
the whole design was sheer quality I liked the fact you could change the backplates
on it too especially if you marked it!
the only issue with Android phones is thery have lousey batterys in most of them
untill you go and buy a higher capacity one
My iPhone blows Androids for there laggy batterys
and once the next update arrives were promised more use and standby too
etaab12 years, 3 months ago
So thats no evidence then.
Since i have no bias towards one company, i like all phones including Apple's. If Apple made such an advertisement against Samsung im sure id find that funny also, but then Apple dont really have anything they can make a joke of, they're always so serious.
Regarding the drone followers, they do exist in their thousands if not millions as illustrated by Apple's bottom line profit and the people having to queue outside Apple stores even now, months after the phones release.
I was watching some friends of mine on Facebook the other day, one asking how to Bluetooth mp3 files from one iPhone to another. None of them knew why they couldnt do it and could not figure it out. The sad fact is most iPhone owners are pretty ignorant to the limitations of their phones and simply bought into its brand.
Miss UK12 years, 3 months ago
eTaab there is a ongoing issue with facebook for the iPhone atm
in the settings on mine the phone isn't reconized!
the app is really laggy and I keep getting connection probs with it on full 0range signal!
I read that the guy who did the facebook iPhone app had left to go do the android one
so someone else is now developing the iPhone one
etaab12 years, 3 months ago
Thats nothing to do with the fact that iPhones cannot Bluetooth files back and forth. That was my point which illustrates how people buy these phones blindly based on their branding. Just like those same people would go buy an Addidas pair of trainers, buy G-Star jeans and Henleys t-shirts.
Branding when strong enough can lead a horse to water, or ignorant into iStores.

The ONLY Android that has managed to beat the GS2 is another Samsung...the Galaxy Note, these two have even ripped the Galaxy Nexus apart.
At this point the only Androids that will beat both the GS2 and GNote are the GS3 and GNote2, Samsung seem to have struck the perfect balance with optimizing their own powerful hardware with Android and their TouchWiz UI, im loving my GS2 its insanely fast and smooth, and the UI is so simple yet functional.

@ Miss UK - just this week i was comparing the size of the SGS2 and the Sensation which my friend has. The SGS2 is much smaller and a better fit in the hands. Yes the Sensation has a better ergonomic feel but the weight makes it feel like a brick to the SGS2.
The SGS2 beats the HTC hands down.
Miss UK12 years, 3 months ago
eTaab, I cannot remember the lastime I even used Bluetooth
but theres this iFiles.. that does what your friends need
if they have jailbroke there phone then this could possibley be free
anonymuser12 years, 3 months ago
Etaab, I'm not accusing you of any particular bias, that said its patently obvious from the disdain with which you hold what you see as this homogenous army of drone Apple followers that you do not want to be part of them. You are EXACTLY who Samsung's advertising is aimed at; it's your exact world view that is being targetted by their marketing bods, in the hope that you'll relate to their message and hence the product. That's how marketing works.
Put it simply and in your terms - do you think their advertising has or will have any effect on drones like me? Am I going to ditch my 4S having seen it? Is that Samsung's intention?
Bonovox12 years, 3 months ago
They could have said in the video. It's a Samsung it does BT file transfers. The Apple fan would then be amazed
anonymuser12 years, 3 months ago
Yes, because BT file transfers truly are amazing and necessary in 2012
Miss UK12 years, 3 months ago
is there a end video I mean I couldnt find what happened when the people got into the store?
btw obtaining a iPhone 4S is pretty difficult the 9pm reserve is really slow
and the server cannot cope with the demand if you do not reserve you cannot get a iPhone
retailers wont sell you one neither without a contract this was before xmas perhaps apple
have got to the demand abit better now?
Hobbs12 years, 3 months ago
My second choice phone if I hadnt got the super duper Galaxy S2 would have most probably been the super duper iPhone 4S so I have only got good things to say about both.

Amazing? No.
Necessary? Yes, in some cases. Not everyone has Dropbox and a smartphone.
I personally use Dropbox or Bluetooth to transfer a single file (mainly a photo) from my phone to my Mac.
Also, if the S II didn't exist, I would go for the 4S. I don't really like HTC devices.
