3G iPhone Rumoured to be coming Jan 2008

26 February 2007 by axxxr
Apple will release a 3G enabled version of its iPhone as early as January next year according to Apple rumours website Appleinsider.com

According to the site, "After threatening to drop a large-scale cellular service contract based on concerns that it would lock itself out of a trade-up to the iPhone, a Swedish firm has received assurances from its liaison at the provider that the coveted gadget would arrive as soon as September - and, startlingly, that a version of the handset with 3G wireless internet access would be in the provider's hands as soon as January of 2008".

The move, if true, would mean Apple would be releasing a second version of its yet un released phone just months after a UK launch and just 6 months after its US launch. source:pocket-lint appleinsider

Sheesh.. Yesterday was a bad day, so unfortunately the poor iPhone got flamed. :)

Opera Mini is still quite good, and I even use it in place of the full Opera, IE, or S60 browsers - simply due to transcoding it performs which increases speed and reduces the cost of data. Some pages are huge, even over a 3G link.

The thing I love about the iPhone is the brilliant user interface, and the intuitive gestures it offers.

I considered buying one, but I reconsidered. It's a pity that a device so well thought out is so closed, and locked into propritory software and networks.

As always, I'm sure it will only be a matter of time till hackers start to tinker around with the hardware and expose methods to run external software. :)

@ neonismo,
Love it or hate why in the world would you want to run Opera Mini on it? when the full HTML Safari based browser in Nokia's is already so much better than that and the full blown Safari browser in Apples own device must be at least as good if not even better. As for your other points nobody knows whether it will be only available via the Networks or not in Europe so no one has the answer to that particular question yet and why is the ability to be able to change a battery of such great importance to you. I'm sure there will be chargers maybe USB or possibly in car chargers as well. But obviously with your negativity this was never going to be device for you anyway. So go and write some nice little games and keep your self busy then.

Hey neonismo, please don't hate. It's only a bit of news.

Who cares? Can I develop my own games for it? Can I choose to run Opera Mini on it? Can I choose what provider I use? Can I exchange the battery? Pah!
