Just love it!! No need to say more!

looks very nice

all need now is a 7650 style slidey thing, and they'll have the full range of phones

this one looks very nice

Love it. When will it hit the market?

Posted by Super G
Same swivel as Japanese SE... Not really practical in fact after having played with its Japanese counterpart.
Clamshell/candybar form factors are more appropriate.

@McKinley:
Well you'll have to wait for... Q4 2004... while 6230 is now available And there is no mention of EDGE support for S700

Posted by skjalg
Drago - not before Q4

Posted by McKinley
Ahhh Sony Ericsson S700 is going to be my next handset.

I will just smile at every user with Nokia handsets
Call me silly or stupid but I will enjoy having this phone and nagging at these poor creatures who buy Nokia 6230.

CRAP Q4

Does S700 has bluetooth ??

Posted by Lestat1974
I just looked at the site and I think the phones look nice.

As to the question of bluetooth then I found this:

"Compatibility with MemoryStick Duo, Bluetooth and infrared means the S700 offers a wide range of connectivity options so images or video clips can be stored or transferred for editing and easy enjoyment on a PC or other consumer devices."

it's like the motorola v80 swivel phone. i wonder who copied 1st, SE or motorola? i think the SE die hard cult fanatics will say motorola

Posted by masseur
oh its much better looking IMHO than the motorola and based more on the Japanese version Sony SO505i

Posted by caff
Just found out S700 does have bluetooth !! And its quite slim , just a little bit heavy !

Swivel phones comes from the Japanese market so I think Motorola copied its design to V80 from some handsets right over there.

Posted by waja800
Now this is what I call a pretty fine phone. Would be my next phone if it is launched soon enough...

Posted by d_a_r_k_n_e_z_z
so thanks to sony then and only them for incorporating their tech like the cam and design to produce a phone like this. only sony could come up with phones like these and not ericsson.

@darknezz

Yes I fully agree with that.
This is a clear Sony *Japanese* influence (Earlier European GSM Sony phones were cr*p vs their Japanese brothers).

I think it brings something fresh to non-Japanese market. Now whether the average European will like these that remains to be seen...

Let's hope they keep releasing models influenced by their Japanese counterparts. This phone is fantastic, just a shame about the Q4 release. Well, I'm going to buy it anyway.

What a beast!!

Posted by caff
How much internal memory does S700 has ??

Posted by gelfen
like the concept, although i doubt i would get it for myself. it definitely suits other people i know, though.

Posted by fu1at
who let this babe out? damn it! i begin to hate that they have the finest handset design here and they make me keep on saving money for thier product.

Posted by PeterKay
That is beautiful, i want one now...................

Also captures video.

COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

a bit a V70 way of turning. But i think this will have massive specs. Something in between the T610 and P900, and i hope the price will be between those two allso.

the screen isnt protected when the phone is closed, something other clammshells do have.

Price on this beauty is set between 550-600 USD
No money consider what you get in this handset.

Posted by caff
Really would like to know how long is the phone when the swivel is open !!

Posted by dimitrivd
the back is like a Sony digital-camera.

Sony does something back to Ericsson now. Playstation games will be used in the future phones.

'other clamshells'? This isn't a clamshell.
And why are people always so bothered about screen protection? All it needs is a little care for ur phone.

PS I love this phone but it needs to come out sooner than Q4.
Do we have any accurate specs besides bluetooth & MS Duo?

Don't worry about lack of internal memory because this does have external memory capacity.

Some people here are really quite funny.
How come you can use 6230 to compare with this phone?
6230 will be available very soon while S700 is EXPECTED to release in Q4 2004. And how about the size? The weight?

Smile at every users using Nokia phones? Then how about T630 or K700 users if you are comparing with S700?

I just want to say, please don't be a blind die-hard fans. Be objective and just get a phone which is useful, convenient to you.

Could someone copy/paste it for up wap users? Is this that phone from the video?

Posted by McKinley
Elrond
Yes this is that one from the video

Posted by jcwhite_uk
Is it just me, or do some of the screen shots look like nokias series 60 phone screen shots?

I wasn't aware of its release date when I wrote that so thats why I edited my post and wrote CRAP, Q4
NOkia will for sure have something competitive at the same time.
By the way I'm not a die-hard fan to a special brand but I just happen to hate NOkia very much.

Thanks McKinley. On the video it looked very good. Only shame is the release date. Hope it will be released in dirt day of Q4 '04 ;-):-)

Looks like S700 has joystick, is it ??

Posted by c96sthl
look carefully on the articles. It mention it can swivel/rotate 180deg which mean same like V80. But still I don't think S700 copied V80 or vice versa .... they are just an upgrade to the design of V70 the mother of all swivel phone.

So it just unfortunately ends up SE copy Motorola....kinda sad to hear it but SE have give the design a strong steroid boost when comparing to V80 which have very limited function.

Sometime I Just wonder "Can S700 be consider a smartphone" since it can use memory stick duo (Hopefully memory stick pro duo as well) plus ability to use Java app which will enable it to do some simple task as in smartphone.

anyway definitely a must have for tech-savvy dude

To me it looks like they have abolished joystick and replaced it with a joypad and a button in the middle of it.

Q4? No worries for Nokia fans then

Posted by dimitrivd
thats better, a joystick is kewl but very fragile, the Joystick of my T610 doesnt always do what i ask him to do. The button-pad of my Z200 does always the right thing.

I just wait for the K700, Q2 isnt that long.

Q4? The concurents will have time to close the gap, i think we will see on the next Cebit event some S700alike anouncements.

Ahhhhhh... why the long wait for the beautiful S700 ...

Posted by Krubach
I'm in love with this phone.
Is as stylish as it can be, besides the excelent specs...

But Q4?!??!? Come on, it'll be outdated when it's out, just like the SX1.
No one will notice it...

When you "open" it -required to type sms, dial a phone number etc- its length is something like 15+cm!!!

Doubled with nothing new but a 1.3Mpixel camera and 262k colour screen (and I thought was ahead of everyone ), I think it is rather a disappointment esp given it will be out in Q4...

Well, Z500 is the only good surprise from
