Much has been made of Sony's new 4K screen with a ppi well in excess of 800, which is over TWICE as sharp as pretty much anything that has gone before.

Screen and camera are probably the two primary features on smartphones.

Is the 4K screen the killer smartphone feature of 2015? If not then what is?

many people think that it is over kill, worse the battery life etc etc, but personally I am super excited.

The battery tests haven't even been done yet on the production versions so no-one is entitled to comment at this stage.

No doubt doubters will want to tear down Sony's claim of 2 day battery life (in normal conditions, not streaming 4K constantly for 10 hours) but they achieved it with the Z3 Compact and Z3 and independent tests by GsmArena and Phone arena put them right up there with the very best.

However, everybody's usage patterns are different so normal usage for one person is not normal for the next.

Personally, I think it's a nice step forward from Sony.

can't wait to see it leaving Samsungs display in the dust and setting a new high standard!

Well I got to say Sony pulled a nice trick with rendering 1080p on 4k display most of the time. This will save quite a lot battery juice and they can brag about how they are first with 4k display. Not bad. Personally I couldn't care less about display, 1080p is more than enough on 5" display.

IMO a killer feature would be a better camera with xenon flash.

Camera is definitely better, Xenon flash? yeah, even dual flash would have been awesome, or F1.8 lens for low light.

4K photo/video viewing isn't just for bragging either.

You need to check out the Bond movie first ad with Money Penny with the Z5 Premium for low light capture ... you'll be saying WOW, and WOAH if it really worked in real life.

I don't think Xenon is even possible when you look at how thin today's flagships are. They might just squeeze one into the Z5 compact but I doubt it, without there being some increase in size. Wasn't there another type of flash technology talked about last year>

the Bond phone is only a Z5, not a Z5P. Same camera but kind of surprise me that they didn't go for the best.

It was, some Japanese scientists said they will be able to produce a thin xenon flash suitable for mobile phones at the end of 2014. Looks like nothing happened in that area

it also need to be able to mass produce easily before anyone pump money into production. A lot of things can happen in a lap, but what does it mean for mass production.
