Ey goldenface, is it FWVGA or HD? You posted two resolutions.

Edit: It has HDR, btw.

Entry level device that still looks exquisite

I love that it has an LED strip similar to ZL, plus a shutter release button, I looks like the evolution of Xperia U to me

They have both in their press release, but it should be FWVGA.
239 € rrp in Germany for the M and 249 for the M dual. Specs are worse than on my Xperia P, really not too keen about this phone.

Where'd you find German pricings?

Overall specs somewhat yes, but Cortex-A9 and Snapdragon S4 at same frequency 1GHz, processing power maybe not.

In the German press release they sent to me.

The main disadvantage of this phone is the internal memory. Other than that it is a good choice for the price range.

Posted by itsjustJOH
That's a bit too high then. Base on its specs, should only be around 190 Euros.

Posted by se_dude
Thats the RRP. Retail price should be significantly lower.

Is it really a 1GHz or 1.7GHz processor, because on the features page, I saw this:

Posted by HxH
MSM8227 Krait 1GHz with Adreno 305 along with 4' FWVGA is nothing to write home about it.

According to the Sony Mobile website:

Display and design
4", 16 million colours, 854 x 480 pixels
Scratch-resistant
Capacitive touchscreen with on-screen QWERTY keyboard
16 million colours, 1280 x 720 pixels

Why are they listing 2 resolutions? We know the screen is 854x480 so what is the 1280x720 all about?

Posted by goldenface
I know, it's on the press release too.

Xperia M white paper
C190X. No Exmor RS sensor stated. MSM8227. 4.1.

Xperia M dual white paper

C200X. MSM8227. 4.2.

I hope it does well because the design is outstanding. It looks like it has the soft-touch type back cover, which is always welcome.

The device is an affordable one. Nice design and nice specs coming from a mid-range phone. Though I don't understand their obsession with the variants. One with 4.1 and other with 4.2. That's nonsense.

It'll be ok to have one. The Dual is enough.

I do wish and hope that in future there will be a limit of at least 8 gig internal memory

As long as there is an expandable too. 8 gig internal alone is quite pathetic as only around 4 gig is actually usable.

Posted by Bonovox
True. It gets increasingly harder now with not much can be moved to SD cards. And also large games take up much room too. It's decent dual core specs and should be quite cheap. One thing they shouldn't have done is have on screen keys cos on a 4 inch screen quite a bit of screen space is taken up especially during browsing

Posted by Bonovox
I would say this price would be less on oat as you go

Phone doesn't have final sw.

Got the Xperia M from my provider until the Z1 Mini will come out (upgrade)
Was very surprised from the performance of this phone so made 2 tests.
AnTuTu Benchmark

Quadrant Standard

Both results are higher than my quad core Nexus 7 first generation

got this phone because of dual sim. But having a trouble with the SD card. It won't read my 32 GB Micro SDHC card.
contacted Sony and they said SDHC is incompatible, how disappointing.
I hope it's not true.

Posted by jcwhite_uk
I can't beleive that it can't read SDHC cards as they have been on the market for years. I can beleive it won't read SDXC cards but SDHC is standard nowadays.
The Xperia M white paper says it will take upto 32GB SD cards so must be SDHC compatible.
Have you tried formatting the card on your computer?

I use 16GB Micro SDHC on the M and it works well.

UPDATE: Despite what Sony Customer Service said, I actually got my 32 GB SDHC card to work on the phone. been working for days now.
but it seem the phones does not allow transferring app to sd card, though the same thing can be said of the Xperia L. I can transfer app from Device Memory to Internal Storage but not to External SD. Xperia M only have Internal Storage and External SD, I think the Device Memory is the Internal Storage.
Is it a Sony thing or an Android thing that I can't send app to External SD?

Posted by hihihans
Dont worry. It's an android thing.

Posted by itsjustJOH
You may be able to transfer them to the SD card by rooting it.

Posted by Tsepz_GP
It's a stupid Android thing by Google, some OEMs have implemented their own App2SD tweak to allow install and transfer of apps to SD, and Androids no longer have 3 sets of memory where you'd have around 1GB Internal, 16GB Mass mem and MicroSD, now Androids just have Mass Memory and MicroSD e.g. GS4 and Xperia Z1 or just Mass Memory e.g. Htc One and LG G2.

I don't really know why Google hates SD cards when that's what everyone wants. Though people can do a workaround by rooting, it's just stupid to not make it default for the OS.
