Holy ...!

It looks even uglier in black!

Posted by goldenface
I think, as with the other GreenHeart phones, they're using cheaper materials in its construction so design and styling is taking a back seat

Price should be good though.

Give it a chance guys it isn't that bad although could have done with a bigger screen the Nokia E71/E72 its not but i will give this a try for sure

Posted by goldenface
Yeah, I agree. You can't really tell from publicity shots. It'll look a lot better in real life.

Another pic.

The white one looks sweet

Posted by Muhammad-Oli
I quite like it, even though it is pretty simple in terms of design. Not my cup of tea in terms of form factor, but it definitely looks nicer than the Nokia phones of a similar style in my opinion.

Posted by tranced
@julias: yes, I prefer it in white.

mods, shall we move this to the Windows Mob section

Posted by anonymuser
First impressions of the leaked image weren't good at all. Second time around.. it's still very plain, and not very SE, but in a way I kind of like it. If I was in the market for a thoroughly business minded, text-centric smartphone, assuming the keyboard response is good, I might take it over a few others out there.

Price will be key - this is a functional tool, NOT a high end flagship.

Posted by doministry
I like it.

WM 6.5.3 + qwerty = great.

Plain design might actually work in
this case.

I was actually thinking that this kind
of form factor is veeeeery functional.
Indeed looks like a P1 next step on WM.

Screen could be bigger definitely
but I assume battery life was important here..

Posted by Indiandawg
I love it!
I just love QWERTY keyboard. I need that!
This is perfect E71. There have been several brands competing against E71 and I find Aspen PERFECT.

GREAT JOB
Way to go !!

Edit: I like black !!!

The white version looks really nice I take back what I said about design taking a back seat.

Its a bit square. I don't like Windows Mobile so this one is out.

Sony Ericsson could have put bigger screen ( 2.6 inch would fit perfectly ) and made the free space at the bottom smaller.

Even without that, that device isn't ugly.

Well, I haven't changed my mind. I find it very ugly in every sense of the word. maybe back in 2005 it would be a beauty but now in 2010 it looks out of place, at least for me.

SE taking it to HTC

It's not my cup of tea but at all - in fact I hate WM devices like it but there is a demand out there and HTC haven't produced many of these which used to be their bread and butter. Now as they keep moving closer to Android they only seem to have one similar device in the pipeline and looks like there could be a bit of an opening for SE.

As I said I don't get on with this style at all (and if was going to have form factor would get a BB) however some companies are still absolutely tied to WM and my brother still swears by his old HTC as a second handset for his overseas SIMs and I know there are many others who still prefer this Soap Bar (well bigger than candybar) form and there really hasn't been much at all for them recently. Could do well in a mainly business niche.

Simple and very functional design and very good specs too (excluding the screen size and camera ofcourse)...

I am liking the Black one... The plastics look cheaper on the white one...

There is a reset button. Why is it there? I haven't seen such ever on a Sony Ericsson phone.

That's what you need when you get blue screen of death.

At least it's better than symbian

we commented W300/ Z300 with ugly keypad but it sell because of good marketing strategy.

so only thing for SE to really get this product selling is good marketing strategy.

but don't look like a highend product....wonder what is their target...Nokia E71 and below as main competitor?

I wonder the RESET button actually work... you know in windows....sometimes nothing works when bluescreen out.
laptop....pull your battery off....PC....pull your AC off....phone.....smack it to the wall? hahaha

I wonder Microsoft have any target date to get manufacturer remove reset button?

it would be more nicer if it has a flip (which can be attached and unattached) to cover the qwerty keypad....reminds me of the P series minus the os

Posted by number2
Its not even hit the streets, and it already looks dated and past it! My guess, and ive been wrong before is that it will be forgotten long before anyone REALLY wants one enough to pay for it, and as for jumping on the green bandwagon, SE has a history of phones where crappy standards lead to keys wearing and showing their age within months, waterborn paints indeed, will this mean that the damn thing wears out even quicker?

There is also a reset button on the X1 (under the battery cover). You have to put your stylus in a small hole to reset the device.

Don't like it tbh, it's 's attempt at a Blackberry - a faliare

The aerial thing was funny!

This phone really is ugly for me, so unlike SE and more like Nokia.

Okay, I'll stop now. I have been sounding more like a broken record for long enough regarding this poor phone.

Blackberry are very successful in the market segment this phone is aiming at. Smart move, no? I agree it's ugly but that's more a reflection of the form factor than design skills. If fact I think that have done well to keep the uglyness to a minimum. It's better looking than a Bb or Nokia E.

@ the reset button...

It could have been my next phone if it had autofocus. Is there a possibility that SE would reconsider putting autofocus in it?

Posted by >500
the loud speaker seems extremely loud in that youtube video lol

Posted by badassmam
Its as fast as the X2 so either the hardware for it is decent on a budget or the X2 is whack. Even if they use environmentally friendly materials, they could have made it look a bit more high end. The black one looks far more expensive than the white one. Next to the BB the screen size is not so bad, it just means that the touch experience won't be great but in the video you saw how easy it is to use with the d-pad. Its a very late move but an extremely smart one from so credit to them.

Posted by >500
doesnt it have a 600mhz processor?? so that it self is faster than the x2. of course it depends on the software. though it looked quite fast in that video.

re screen size, the e71 had 2.4", then came the e72, with...... a 2.4" screen. Yes ts been out a little while already, but it sells well, as does the e71 still. even the BB 9700, they dropped the screen size from 2.6 to 2.5". Didnt see many complaints there.

Though some argue larger would have been better, its a business minded device, not a multimedia monster. Dont see the need for a much bigger screen.

No more SE123?

The "PROTOTYPE" looks so ugly.

You see the differences in the keyboards?
