@ECS i reckon it'll either be for volume or it will be like the one they used to have on that Sony phone - what was the model now ummmmmm... was it a J....Something...
Anyhoots, be looking to get into a phone shop when these come out... wanna have a play... i loved the D500 but thought teh menu's and usablillity was rubish.... maybe SE can put right where Samsung maybe went wrong? in saying that i know a lot of peopel love the simplicity of teh D500

Its not really lucky Japanese with the rate some of you change your phones if you tried that in Japan you would be seriously out of pocket. Remember these phones come hard coded with your number built in..so there is no such thing as transferring sim cards, so it means a new contract all the time...if you wanted to cancell the contract of the old and port the number it can run into the hundreds of pounds average about £300.
Also the build quality of alot of Japanese phones are of a poorer quality (good marketing as they want to make sure they spend spend spend) and not keep a phone going for 3 years..alot of paint works are really terrible and you see them pealing after a few months.
All in they have all the things we need just not the quality..cant say I have seen anything like an 8800 build in Japan nor a Vertu for that matter.

the volume buttons are next to the know. i bet its to skip the song. but idk!

I think that SE should release this phone for the European market too. It is really nice and its innovative design are very appealing.
I would have bought straightforward.
Pay attention to the volume and play button at the bottom, have you seen anything like this before? Amazing! Really amazing, I think.

@themarques: Good point. Are these phones available as PAYG or do you have to sign a new contract.

look quite nice (not so sure about the colour schemes though)
only thing that looks slighty perculiar....the joypad buttons...

the bottom section which looks like a design inspiration from sony's walkman is ugly in my opinion.
it is just like suddenly you have a chrome coloured tumour grow on the bottom of the phone

navi-pad/joypad looks like the one from the z200

hhmm with that kinda knob.. its like those machines used by meds to check blood pressure....
but its kinda kewl tho.

btw if include the two japan phone announced so far in 2006
SE might have now almost 20 product announcement in 2006 alone
and this time...every phone seem to have a style of their own even some of them is spin off to another design.

Reminds me of this from one of Sony's mp3 players, the Sony NW-E407.

From what I understand there isn't much of a PAYG market in Japan. In fact I'm not terribly sure there is one at all.
