its a nice upgrade of the k600. about the only gripe is the lack of auto focus in its camera, there seems to be no mention of it in the specs sheet.

Posted by DeLa
Very nice. Too bad it hasn't got edge. I suppose this is the "W810 brother"? Or can we expect yet another phone?

Good idea to introduce both advanced and supersimple phone at the same time.

Posted by Evilsummer
And no lens cover either... thats a shame... but hey you can't have it all

Posted by mustafabay
Any idea on internal memory and supplied memory stick?

Posted by jcwhite_uk
No mention of internal memory or what memory stick size is included. It does take the new M2 size sticks though so expanding memory will be expensive for a while.

Posted by jcwhite_uk
According to se-nse it comes with 64mb stick

Posted by fu1at
it seem this phone no camera cover and no camera flash too... but damn sexy keypad...

Two days and I missed a new announcement. Wow. Quite nice.

A beautiful phone really!!!

k610i vs 6233, the battle is on

K610i seduces me more, looks-wise, definitely

Congrats

Posted by rockygali

mMMm nice nice

I haven't discovered a flash, yet mobile.burn.com says the K610 has one. I wonder.....

Posted by amawanqa
Looks damn smart; an attractive handset.

Wonder how popular the metallic red will be...

Posted by PeterKay
It is pretty smart and very fashionable, nice one

Nice phone, but to me it stinks of being a "gap-filler" until the next bunch of phones arrive in the summer, the K750i's true follow-up, probably a 3mp phone.

What annoys me most about this phone is that SE says its maximum M2 capacity is 1gb. I have a 1gb Duo stick on my K750i currently, and im still runnning low on space, waiting to get a 2gb or 4gb.

Posted by S4k1s
@etaab: This is an upgrade of the k600 and not the k750.
k600 is 3g and k750 is not so not same segment right now.

Edit: About the memory. The biggest M2 card is 1gb right now. That is why it says max 1gb on the site, you will be able to use the the 2gb M2 cards later on.

Also no need for you to upgrade yet since you got the k75

This message was posted from a T630

64Mb memory card + around 21 Mb of the built in memory

The softkey area looks like the rendered "Wilma " phone_

I like it nonetheless! I just hope the front cover remains aluminium, it'd be a shame if it's in plastic like the K608

Cute phone. The dimensions are almost identical to K700's. Does it have a FM radio?

Posted by AshUK85
Finally what I've been after, shame about there being no flash, would of been perfect with one.

Posted by BobaFett
nice toy imo, actually se put those features in it, what were missed in k6. why couldnt they do it 1 year ago? now its really not a big deal, next ti it se and umts fones are 2 different phrases, all other brands release way more advanced 3g fones.

Posted by kabukijep
bob: i think the K610's perfectly fine as it is, it's meant as an entry-level 3G phone and doesnt have to have all the bells and whistles. just basic high-speed connectivity and video calling. expandable memory is a nice addition, and the 3MP cam, but when you put all these together you just feel bad they didnt do it all the way and add radio (why oh why did they have to take out the radio??) + autofocus

Posted by Superluminova
I love this phone, the styling is just pefect in my eyes i can't wait for the red on to go on sale, does anyone have any idea what quarter its expected?

Posted by BobaFett
@kabukijep its has 2mp cam. the missing radio is nothing new at se, their decisions are usually pointless...

Posted by kabukijep
Superluminova: Q2. May-ish

Bob: experimenting with the market, i reckon. The only reason behind their decisions for the K610 that i can think of other than that is (1) they had to keep the size of the phone down by taking out the physical constraints associated with implementing autofocus in the cam shutter (2) with less components needed for less features, they can keep the size down. Re: the radio, I'm not an electronics guy but I'm trying to figure if it also requires some electronics in the connector area to allow the handsfree to act as a receiver; then again, they already implemented fastport in the K610, so here again it leads us that is trying to "segment" the market

Why I'm getting the W810 instead of this: (1) the walkman player is just too good to give up (2) autofocus should be a given for a 2MP cam (3) the flash!! the 2-diode flash!! (3) 3G is still new in my part of the world and rates are just skyrocketing expensive. EDGE is not very common either (my carrier doesnt have it, but the competition does); actually I don't surf the web all that much (4) bundled accessories! the price premium is easy to justify, see

I think you could use the flash accesory if you really need it and want this phone

It's a little strange about the missing FM radio. According to all pictures of K610 I have seen so far, there is an icon that more looks like an old telephone set than a radio in the place where the radio icon is expected to be located in the 12-icon desktop. Also, I find no indication whatsoever about an FM radio in the specifications for this phone. Even though itīs possible to use streaming radio now when the 3G facilities are available in the K610, but that is a far more expensive way to listening to your favourite radio station than using a traditional FM radio receiver. A snap-on radio is an alternative, I had that om my T39, but it makes the phone much larger and more difficult to handle. However, I just recently downloaded the newest version of SonyEricsson's ThemesCreator (version 2.20) which also has support for K610 themes, and to my surprise, the preview display in the themes creator has a radio icon! Is this a glitch in the ThemesCreator design, or is the radio just missing in the current beta versions of the K610?

Posted by gareb
@altemyr

Hope your right so that put in the radio which I use a lot.

Posted by YEOPK
Mamamiya...! This phone is gorgous!

Posted by DeLa
- flash & autofocus & lens cover all need some room; apparently the point of this phone is to offer 3G in a slim body;
- maybe the FM radio was left out to please the 3G networks because it might lead you into their streaming audio

So the k610 is clearly not the w810-brother-successor of the k750. We have to wait, wait, wait.

Really a nice phone with elegant design.

But I have my "old" question. Why can't SE made its first quadband GSM + UMTS (3G) phone?

If you travel a lot you need to carry two phones: one which includes GSM 850 and the other with UMTS. If you prefer to have one phone, you need to abandon either GSM 850 or UMTS.

Nokia already introduced two phones with quadband GSM + UMTS in last autumn: N80 and E61. So, with those phones you will have all in one: GSM 850/900/1800/1900 and UMTS.

Even though that question is nothing to do with this topic, it has to be W800i all the way as it's an product

I really had my mind set o the k610: nice, businesslike, lots of room for music, camera ok since a better cam is bigger in the housing - but no radio? Apparently really no radio... very wierd indeed. I won't buy it because of that, rather go with the w810 instead.

Posted by goldenface
I like this phone and I can sort of see where are coming from with it.

They seem to be pitching this at a lower end which probably explains the lack of what some might see as even basic features - such as the radio, and a 2mp cam with no AF or flash.

What was the last mid-range phone with no flash? The T610

I would even go as far as to say this is more aimed at the 'fashion' as opposed to the 'business' people. (ie the SLVR, slim phones are definitely 'IN' at the moment).

It will be interesting to know the handset only price, I would expect it to be sub Ģ200 or around the same price as the K600i when that was launched.

Can see it being released in June.

Posted by gwping
Updates? is 2nd quarter already? April or May or June? Any insider news?

Thanks A lot......

I think my avatar will change to the K610i when I upgrade my T68i... Very nice.

Posted by lowcge
really nice phone, kinda like the slick design

Posted by goldenface
I was surprised to learn that this phone is under 90g which is impressive for a 3G handset. Does anyone have a released date yet?
