The latest rumors from sonyalpharumors describe a new device in the form of a lens that will have a built in sensor, battery and memory that attaches to a smart phone and transmits the captured images to the phone via NFC and Wi-Fi. The first unit is rumored to have the sensor and lens from the RX100MII camera (1" sensor and 28-100mm f/1.8-4.9 Zeiss lens)

I like the idea of this.
You can buy a cheap phone and spend the rest on the lens.

Yep.....the phone will serve only as viewer , storage and WiFi services. Image quality will great.

You're right. Modern telephones offer many interesting possibilities. Camera with excellent resolution. When I travel, I no longer take any other photo equipment separately.
