Hardcore Fans Demanded - Strange C902 [Aino Low Light Macro Shoots inside!]

Hello to you all,

This is my first real post here, I must say that ESATO is an awesome place, a real must-know, not only for Sony Ericsson/Sony fans but also for every mobile phone geek! I'm kind of a stealthy guy, I love to come here, search and read, read and read. I do so but I never post or comment anything (well, this probably will change after today ) Congratulations to all of you (members and staff) for what ESATO is and represents today.

The reason I'm writing and creating this topic is because I need your help. I bought a “Swift Black” Sony Ericsson C902 from ebay, the phone was listed as “New” and everything seemed all right. Meanwhile, before the reception of the phone, the ebay listing was removed. Then, yesterday, I finally received my phone.

I'll try to be fast:

Basically, as the title suggests, there's something strange about this phone I just received. Everything works and the phone feels and weights perfectly legit. However, there are some details that are somehow “disturbing” me. More specifically, there is an incorrect “Sony Ericsson” font and “Cyber-shot” font on the front panel and there's an imperfect battery cover (which does not fit perfectly).

Here are some photos (taken with my Aino - Auto - Macro - No flash - 6 mpx):

Look at both logos.

Notice the strange "sso"s.

Notice the slim "o".

Here some photos of another C902, from GSMArena.

Please note that what I'm noticing would not be noticed by a normal (non SE geek) person, that's why I came here xp The logos are unquestionably not equal to the usual ones, although this may not be perfectly visible from these pictures.

I've dealt with 20+ Sony Ericssons, including a previous C902 (which was unfortunately stolen from me), my previous C902 was exactly as the one from the GSMArena photos and had the correct Sony Ericsson font.

In my mind, and in my ignorance I see three hypothesis:

1st - Sony Ericsson quality standards are lower for the Asian market (the phone was shipped from Hong Kong), therefore leading to this type of aesthetical differences in comparison to the European C902 - this means that my phone is effectively new, as the vendor announced;

2nd - This phone is a refurbished handset (work not made by Sony Ericsson) - this means that the vendor gave false information;

3rd - This phone is a quality replica, made with official and non official parts - this means that the vendor gave false information;

What do you think? Do you think that any or part of my three hypothesis is correct? Do you see another hypothesis?

All help is deeply appreciated, thanks in advance

Kindest Regards,
Velho

Note: The phone total cost was $110.99!

Most likely real phone, fake housing. They do that a lot in HK. Some shops will even "build any phone you want" and place any model number on the case you request.

Thanks for the answers!

Here are some more photos of the C902, taken with the Aino.

The software and the experience is pretty much perfect.

Here are some pics from the C902, everything seems ok and as expected:

I would say your phone is a genuine one with non genuine housing. If you are worried so much order an original housing from ebay and replace

He he. Like this thread. You really looking super careful on your logos. I have both Aino and c902 and i think they looks similar to yours.

Besides, they have enormous buildquality so you made a great deal. Aino is probably the model with best colour quality (camera wise), not even my c905 is better there.
Here you have both photo threads:

I doubt you got a "false" sonyericsson product (i know there is some copys in Asia) but this phones are the real deal i think.
