nice red theme

Posted by ares
Can someone please test flash sites with opera 8.65 and see if anything improved?

Posted by ardzuna
I got it. Here is the new default theme
Now I see that I forgot to set the clock and the date right. Sorry about that, it's not been even one hour since I finished the update.

you think this will be the last firmware update for g900?

Posted by xell
One thing I noticed: The previous fw had problems with some songs in the media player and stated "Sound not supported", and skipped those.

That is gone now, the phone plays them again.

Posted by ashyk36
I have never been able to update my phone,i have just tried it again and it says update not available. Why is this>?

Posted by ardzuna
You need to change your CDA, there is a very nice tutorial here
http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=176580

Posted by norbi_nw
what are the improvements?

EDIT: updated, first impressions:
1. seems alot faster (maybe because it's still empy - no apps installed)
2. Stupid SE still didn't fix the camera quality.. still overexposed when taking macro with LED, + touch focus still a gimmick, not working properly.

testing in progress

Hi G900 users

i just bought a G900
was extremely surprised n shocked to realised it doesnt have this function
(other than # silent n flight mode)

just call SE to ask where is the profile function hidding
was told there isnt any profile function in SE symbian

to me, profile is kind of a very basic function
im a heavy profile switching user

**does anyone know where to download compatible profile for G900?

cheers n a merry x'mas

Changed mine as well yesterday. Nive new default theme and the UI responses feels a bit faster. Program loading also faster. Still testing. Camera - sigh, still the same.

There are many programs for making screenshots: AutoCam, QScreenSnap, Open Screen Capture, Capture It...

Posted by Karun
But is there any screen capture utility that captures the screen while music is playing? I can't get the visualisations to come in the screenshot..

Posted by norbi_nw
ehem.. this is a thread about the new firmware.. please discuss the other problems in G900 topic. So far only i have mentioned any +/- about the new firmware..

How to get the clock in the statusbar?

Posted by ardzuna
You can get this clock in the status bar if you install Swiss Manager, there is also an application called Timeblob which also displays a clock in the status bar.

I noticed that in Opera pop-up menu option 'Go to web page' is now called 'Enter adress'.

Other than the new default theme I didn't notice anything new.
I'm going to try the camera tomorrow with some daylight pics, flash brightness in macro mode still not fixed as norbi said.

Posted by ares
how is flash performance now??? can you go to adobe.com and see what version of flash is detected???

according to what i read, this firmware has new builds of: Opera, Quickoffice and PDF+

Posted by cadcad
Couldn't know what version it is, it says: Sorry, your platform is not supported.

This message was posted from a WAP device

In the new firmware R6K842 Opera version is 8.65 "958", Quickoffice version 4.0.363, PDF+ version 1.80 (12). In older R6J825 Opera 8.65 ( "878") PDF+ 1.80 (09) and Quickoffice 4.0.256

Posted by ares
ok, i got confirmation flash version is the same

anyone can share the new theme???

Posted by Consumology
Another bug continues: When you get a documtent file with an MMS (e.g. for an online ticket) Quick Office still fails to open it. This bug was in last firmware as well, but not in the original one. When installing Documents to go you can open it.

I notice there is a new option "Internet Wizard" in the connectivity Menu.
This allows you to get your WAP and MMS settings

@ritche_m
The flash version ain't mentioned in the system information window.

I have the latest firmware, and I don't know if this changed it or I didn't noticed before, but why are my text messages time 6 hours behind the real time? My phone has the right time on it showing on the standby screen.

Posted by ritche_m
there's no problem on my phone, SMS time is real time.

I upgraded to the new firmware, but now it always tries to install some old programs after I disconnect it from my computer. Any idea how to stop this? Btw it wants to intall programs which has no more any install files on my phone on memory card and it takes about 2 minutes to cancel all installations..

Switch the white balance to daylight and decrease the exposure to -0.3 or -0.7 (where necessary). Your pics should be better then. Can u try this and post another pic???

How to alter the exposure?

Posted by AGA33
somebody noticed that after latest G900 firmware update the battery consumption reduced a lot. With old firmware my G900 in stand by mode battery lasted for 2-3 days. Now 2 days already ended and battery stil got 80% of juice.

Hi guy's, as SE have dropped the UIQ now, I see that changing to the world generic firmware may be the only way to go for updates.
Mine still has the UK Custom firmware it came with on it. I have not really had any issues with it, it's crashed a couple of times in the messaging app but that's about it. Also I get REALLY annoyed when the phone kicks you out of the camera interface back to the home screen when you don't use it for a minute.

Anyway, I have asked in the main G900 thread but am wondering if changing the firmware is worth it? Is the latest generic one much better then the UK Custom one? Is it a lot faster? Also does is it faster at changing photos when viewing your album in the camera interface?

Thanks.

Hi Guys, is this firmware still the latest for GW1 G900?
