I'm looking to purchase a 1GB card but can I use a normal SD card or does it have to be Sony Memery Stick Duo?

no you cant you can only use memorystick duo's sd cards are different size

Duo is only up to 128mb, PRO DUO is up to 4GB (until now)

There are a few numbers people won't have the situations like yours.. hehehe..
Only Memory Stick Duo or Pro Duo is accepted for SE fonez..

1. download the user guides from SE's site.
2. read the faq's
