Use Your Ebay Account On Your Mobile Phone

13 June 2005 by axxxr
Mobile Auctions, a new mobile application which allows consumers to manage their eBay account from their mobile phone handset, was launched today by publisher Moonlight Mobile.

Mobile Auctions provides users with more than just mobile access to the controls they use online. It also provides dynamically updated, real-time information directly on the user's handset, providing an entirely new level of control over every transaction, from watching and bidding to buying and selling. In addition Mobile Auctions has been design, created, focus-tested and produced to make it simple and accessible for every mobile phone user.

Mobile Auctions does not seek to replicate a user's online interface but instead creates an entirely new mobile experience which actually adds value and functionality to the online 'My eBay' functions. Services include a scrolling ticker bar, showing the user's transaction status for live auctions and sophisticated alarm and alert settings allowing notification of bids being beaten, auctions closing and items won..

Mobile Auctions will use a simple, low-cost monthly subscription to provide users with constant access through their handset, regardless of the mobile network they use.

Research conducted with focus groups during Mobile Auctions development showed that many users actually used Mobile Auctions in conjunction with eBay itself, using the phone's real time updates and alerts to keep them informed whilst browsing eBay online for other auctions.

Jonathan Sendzul, CEO of Moonlight Mobile, said, “Mobile phones are capable of much more than simply playing games, yet outside of entertainment, there are very few applications or services which are practical and useful for owners. Mobile Auctions has been designed specifically to take advantage of the convenience and penetration of the mobile phone into it's owner's life, making their online activities available no matter where they are or what their schedule demands. However, it's much more than a simple extension. When creating Mobile Auctions, we spent a great deal of time with focus groups, looking at the user interaction and market testing to arrive at an application that provides enhanced functionality and a fantastic value-adding user interface and experience. For us the technical capabilities are a given. Where we really believe Mobile Auctions makes a difference is in what the application delivers – focussed access to 'My eBay', a colourful user interface and sim
plicity of use. It's fast, simple, useful and fun."

Mobile Auctions has been created to run on the majority of Java enabled mobile phone handsets. The application has been created to operate on all local eBay markets: the USA, United Kingdom, Spain, Germany, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Austria, Israel and Belgium with more territories being added regularly. The specific value in this is that once users select their country site they can interact in their own language within the application.

Moonlight Mobile is currently negotiating with a number of Europe's leading mobile network operators and independent portals to ensure Mobile Auctions is available to all mobile phone owners. Mobile Auctions will be released in July 2005.For more information visit: www.moonlightmobile.com
