Nokia expecting to launch Windows Phone 7 devices from Q4
14 September 2011 by Olav Hellesø-Knutsen In a recent interview with CEO Stephen Elop, he communicates that Nokia is expected to sell Windows Phone 7 devices beginning in the last quarter this year
The good news is that the next Windows Phone powered Nokia will be available in Q4 this year. The bad news is that this is not a worldwide roll out. Nokia will start shipping Windows Phone 7 smartphones country by country. It was in a recent interview on a Chinese television that Mr. Elop said that he is on a visit to China to have discussions with operators about the release of the new Windows Phone 7 devices. The launch of new smartphones will be done country by country instead of having a continet by continent launch which is a common way to release new mobile phones. Mr. Elop also explained why the decision felt on choosing Windows Phone 7 as the only OS, and not having another OS such as Android powering their device portfolio. Nokia choose Windows Phone over Android because they decided that they would do their best work with the Microsoft platform. The Nokia CEO also mentions Navigation, Mapping and entertainment as the main features that Nokia will add to the Windows Phone experienece. Me too but i can imagine them being rather dull. Theres just something about Windows Phone which seems dull.
Im hoping Nokia's input will give WP7 a bit more character. Nokia's marketing manager said on twitter that their first windows phone 7 will be something special I'm not sure what that means exactly but it sounds good? perhaps this?
![]() I've seen that before when Nokia first announced their WP7 phones and have to say I quite like the look of that however we don't known for sure if that's the actual phone or just a concept design? [ This Message was edited by: julias on 2011-09-17 11:36 ] it was declared as concept at the time but its certainly a style I could live with (not pink though!)
I agree style wise its quite nice and I think pink is to keep the girls happy! ![]() Not so into pink myself, even though I'm a woman ![]() These are the colours of the N9 btw. Considering Mango's change to the Metro UI and performance requirements, along with unifying the UI with Windows 8 I really think Windows Phone 7 has a chance in the consumer and corporate space to replace BlackBerry VERY quickly. This concept looks a LOT like the Nokia C7 and the latest update. I hope that Nokia partners with Bose, Bang & Olfsen, or Maurantz or some audio specialist for a REALLY incredibly tuned DSP for hardware implementation. HTC will have a good run soon with Monster Beats. I think Nokia should partner with THX as they are the pinacle of quality sound. http://m.mobot.net/nokia-app-hits-windows-marketplace-30673 There is alot of high expectation riding on this from Nokia. They really gotta get it right. If they release top notch hardware with a great camera too & with the latest WM7.5 then Nokia will have a beast of a handset/handsets ![]() I'm really looking forward to this. Nokia Window ☏
I like your little phone symbol ![]() "Absolutely stunning." That’s how everyone that's been shown Nokia's new Windows Phone 7 smartphone describes the device. This is according to Nokia’s Conor Pierce, general manager for UK and Ireland, in a one to one interview with Pocket-lint.
"To the partners we have shown the device to, their words, not necessarily mine - although I agree - upon showing it to them. It's spontaneous and unprompted. They say ‘the first Nokia Windows Phone is absolutely stunning’ and that’s die hard gurus in this business, who have thick skin," boasts Pierce http://www.pocket-lint.com/ne[....]nokia-windows-phone-7-stunning Damn I wish we could see it ![]() This could be it?
http://wmpoweruser.com/nokia-[....]mPowerUser+%28WM+Power+User%29 Slim. Nice but a bit weird.
Oh, I like weird ![]() I like it & the name Sabre. The bottom part of that device looks like a HTC
Just because it's round?
Nokia understood that if you give a phone a colour, it's not just the battery cover. I still love Nokia & have faith in them to make this good.
Certainly looks really good and I'm quite excited with this new WP7 line up from Nokia. If this is real, i'm sold.
![]() That does look pretty amazing doesn't it and I hope it is real too however it does look more like the N9 with WP7 but still could be the real deal?I'm completely sold on WP7 anyway more people need to try it out to experience how good it really is. I'm getting more and more convinced.
Wow that is gorgeous
