hey Dreadnought, i'm pretty sure you're talking about your favorite brand (NOKIA, right?). oh and dont forget the crappy batteries..

Those who big up one manufacturer, and slag off the others, are advertiser's saps, and play into the hands of the corporates. I have a variety of phones, and I prefer SE. Not that any other phone is worse than my SEs, it's just that I am more familiar with the SE layout, there's nothing more to it than that. I would say that my old Motorola is faster for texting, and my Sagem is easy to use. Both lack many features, but they work brilliantly as mobile phones, which is what I need 95% of the time.

The Nokia seems fine. Quite acceptable. I really don't care about the number of colours, since my SE display is as good as it gets for pics. I can't see why I would get worked up about having more colours, which would probably be beyond my perception.

No... this one is clearly a Series60 phone, has a normal headphone jack and miniUSB charging. Yeah, the screen is smoother than SE's. It has the same interface (with the blue "i" shortcut key on the 0 key like my N80.

The point about this phone is mainly about Nokia widening the range of shapes Series60v3 is available in, unlike SE who are pretty stuck with UIQ3 being in fairly large blocky phones. My P1i is a huge improvement but SE really need to follow Moto and stick UIQ3 on non-touchscreen handsets like the Z8.

Hey dreadnough - this may be a sony ericsson fan site but we still like to be kept up to date with what else is around. i'd like to also say that you ARE SO a Nokia fan-boy. it's obviouse for 3 reasons. you're laying into SE then saying little thing like "(but SE are still good, oh, and all other make)". sorry man, but that's just what a Nokia fan does to try to cover his @ss when claiming not to be a fanboy. secondly, as Gerry pointed out, you were very defensive of Nokia in that whole rant, trying to justify your reasons for them being the best. thirdly, you even admit to owning a Nokia, lol. it really makes me laugh when Nokia fan-boys have to come on a SE site because they're so worried that SE make better phones in general (altho the P*** are a bit low spec compared to the N95, they're way more stable and can hold a charge for more than a few hours), and have to resort to preaching the gospel according to Nokia in some silly attempt to convert us. man, get a life... and lighten up a bit.

Gerry, i relly appreciate your oppinions. although i dont always agree, you really seem to know your stuff and i seem to find myself agreeing with you most of the time. some of your views are a matter of oppinion though. i think you may be right about the kind of people that will buy this phone, but then again, i see younger ladies with office jobs buying this phone too. again, it's a matter of oppinion but isn't that what forums are all about? :)

Not a bad little looker, but it seems quite average on the inside.

I'm not a fan of the 16 million colour screens that Nokia seems to be using as a selling point these days. For the people that use their phones casually, with a quick call here and a short text there, it's fine I suppose. But those of us who constantly use our phones (half the day with different data applications in my case) find it's just another unnecessary drain on the battery.

Thanks for thr compliment, Dreadnought. Firstly, your post is incrdibley biased towards Nokia. it practically cmes accross as "hey, you don't know what you're talking about and Gerry sux cos he has no much to say. Nokia is the best cos thier phones are better spec'd... blah blah blah". you're basically coming accross as an overly defensive Nokia fanboy because anyone that wasn't, would probably agree with most of what was said.

you simply can not compare the N95 to the K850. the K850 is purely a camera/phone hybrid and is marketed as so (even sports the Cybershot logo). the N95 is nokias flagship media phone and is bound to offer more in terms of spec. the N95 is not without it's problems. one of the major letdowns of having to much tech (16m screen, etc etc) is that the damned thing needs to be charged 2-3 times a day.. even with moderate useage... it's completely impractical and useless as a result. before you lay into me about being a fan boy, get your facts right. i've said many times on these forums tat i am a mobile phone fan, nothing more. i've owned 23 Nokias and currently have an N73 and N95. i recently replaced my N80 with the N73 so i'm pretty open minded about phones before i use them. i have 2 contracts that offer me free upgrades every 6months, but sometimes i sell a handset to fund another, so i could have 5-6 handsets per year. that's way too many to buy purely SE. i've said before that i think the P990 was too late in comming and had early problems with RAM, and that the P1i is disappointing. that said, i still feel they have the edge in the market over all. and thats from experience

Why do you even post Nokia news on this site? Most of you hardcore SE nerds wouldn't recognise a good phone if it slapped you in the face...
SE makes nice phones, so does Samsung and Nokia. With me so far? All companies have good an bad models.

Reading these "forums" has really given me and my friends HUGE laughs lately... Congrats. Basically thanks to idiots like Gerry. First thing that went trough my mind after reading your "opinion" was if you have ever really used a Nokia phone? My N73 ME, has never crashed because of multitasking. Touchscreen doesn't make a phone a smartphone and vice versa. The SE smartphones have so far been total catastrophes. The P990 crashed more than the whole Nseries together. Same goes for the M600 and it's pathetic features. SE's smartphones have so far been a big joke in the mobile world. Hopefully the new P1 and W960 models will perform atleast a bit better.
About touchscreens. The TS (=touchscreen) is not always a good thing. Why? Because you have to use TWO hands when using it, instead of ONE. And the QWERTY keyboards are a mess too. Just read the P1 review on GSMArena. The keyboard is so crammed that the whole idea of the qwerty gets ruined. It's actually faster to type on a normal phone keyboard. The whole UiQ OS is very complicated compared Windows Mobile or S60. And it is far more unstable.

About designs. This is SUBJECTIVE, look it up if you don't know what it means. Nokia designs are classy and have lately been made of nice materials. They have style. SE has some models like this aswell, the K770 and M600 for example. But most of SE's phones look (IMO) totally childish, they look like they are all from Star Wars or some other weird place, weird flashy colours and lights, shiny plastic, tiny screens, weird keyboards, filled with commercials, overpriced and they ALL LOOK THE SAME or have the same features. The K770 and T650 for example... No_creativeness_at_all. Only people who try to get attention will appreciate these designs. And if you only can impress people with you PHONE, then you are quite a sad person. I agree that the Prism's are quite weird, but atleast they are different and someone might like that. You go on bashing the features and screens of Nokia phones, just because you are jealous that your SE doesn't have it. Who is lagging behind in technology? The N95 which already kicks K850's ass in features is out and selling great, but where's the K850? Where is miniUSB or microUSB? Where is audio jacks? 16mln screens? Double speakers? UPnP? Optical zoom? VGA video? etcetc. Of course SE has done a few advancements like Xenon flash but mainly SE's features are from the era when I was using a K750 (which is a nice phone btw). So if you like SE and it's simple dumbphones and flashy brandnames which don't_make_any_difference in the real world, then fine, stay that way. But you have no reason to bash other companies with far more advanced technologies and more beautiful and creative designs. That's so stupid, since you are obviously doing it because of jealousy...
Geez, why am I even trying, you are just gonna call me a fanboy or something and all that... I just ask you not to speak crap about things you obviously know nothing about...

Have a nice day, I don't think I will return to this place... Hardcore fanboyism about PHONES has never been my thing.

Very Nice Phone, in my opinion!

First: This is a very nice phone, obviously, it's a Nokia, top class-design phones, with the best screens (16 million colors), and a simple interface (still using S40, that's good). A very good replacement for my 6131, hehe... But just one wrong thing: Where's the fuc***ng flash???

Second: As Nokia phones, I like SonyEricsson's too, the Walkman and Cyber-Shot series are so good, but I can see any phone without yelling to the heaven "(Put your favorite brand here) rules!!" SonyEricsson fans, please, get out of this comments if you're here just to defend your fan-boy side. You just start stupid discussions about which brand is the best.

Answer me if you want, I wont get angry with your opinion.

Wasn't Flip the one who commented on the K770 Cybershot and then got schooled by me (which used a diifferent name) and Gerry after.

I would say the phone is average looking, but at least this phone doesn't have the "I love it or I hate it" kind of impression, unlike many of Nokia's offerings, such as the Prism. I like the 7500 but I hate the 7900 or w/e it's called. This one is alright.

Flip got brainwashed by Nokia. I think the SE Z610i looks far better and has the PROPER curves of a nice emotional phone.

it's quite nice ,but can you notice the looks of that phone, its very similar to a samsung phone which is a clamshell and an analog display, can anyone recall these features, color enhancements seems unnecessary cause it doesnt really inflict anything, they should surpass sony ericsson if they could develop a secondary camera as clear as the primary ( 2mp to 5mp)

Flip, you're such a sad, sad Nokia fan-boy. you wouldnt be able to tell the difference between 262k and 16m million colours so what's that got to do with anything? have you even though about the fact that phone manufactures (like SE) are choosing to stay away from 16m screens because they drain battery life? you simply have no idea what the hell you're talking about.. EVER. do you even have a brain? (probably not if you think that Nokia is the be all and end all). what about the fact that Nokia's N95 has an average cam when compared to the lower res' K800/810's 3MP. what about the fact that Nokia always crash when multi-tasking. what about the fact that they call S60's smart phones when they dont even have a touch screen and nearly all are without a QWERTY keyboard. you have serious issues, man.
Anyway.. my question is, when are Nokia going to step out of the 90's with their design. this phone still carries the same lines that Nokia were using back when screens were black and white. i've never been a fan of clam-shells. i think they attract middle-aged women and thats about it. i doubt any of them give a damn about 16m screens and whether or not it comes with WCDMA. no-one will buy this, just like those silly prism phones. i really wish Nokia would fire their marketing team and start producing some good stuff for a change. ever since the release of the T68, they've gone really downhill.

it is a nice looking phone, the phone looks really nice when it is open, from the inside and the outside, but when u close the clamshell there is this annoying joint on the phone that is popping out, this joint is really ugly.

Very nice design.

Nokia is finaly getting out of the blockness design.

Japanese flair to it as well.

Video Sharing ... oh nice now since AT&T is trying to launch this in the USA ... something we all saw done in the last racing scene of Tokyo Drift (Fast & the Furious) then its going to be a nice congested wcdma network to say the least. Fun but congested.

S40 interface it looks like along with MicroUSB Connector & Charding all in one.
