New Video Eyewear for Mobile Phones

8 April 2006 by axxxr
Icuiti’s new eyewear offers big screen viewing for what industry insiders call the “Fourth Screen" the progression from cinema, television, and computer, to the mobile phone.

Research firms confirm that consumers are rapidly adopting mobile phones as a new medium for watching videos with an estimated one billion subscribers worldwide. Icuiti solves the number one complaint of this
vibrant market a phone’s small screen  and significantly enhances the mobile TV experience.

Icuiti’s Video Eyewear provides a private virtual 42-inch digital quality screen as if the viewer was 7-feet away complete with integrated headphones. The CP920 features two VGA LCD panels each having 640 x 480 resolution and a 26 degree field of view. The CP230 has two QVGA panels with 320 x 240 resolution and a 24 degree field of view. With lightweight design and lowpower requirements, the eyewear plugs into the mobile phone’s AV port without the need for external controllers or bulky battery attachments.

Additionally, Icuiti’s Video Eyewear offers DRM and handset authentication to ensure that content is protected and only viewed on approved carrier devices. In addition to standard lower frame streaming video, the system supports high resolution 3G and Digital Media Broadcasts anywhere in the world. Icuiti offers analog PAL, NTSC, and custom digital video interface options. Finally,Video Eyewear also supports Icuiti 3D for a stunning three dimensional viewing experience.

Icuiti CEO Paul Travers believes the feature-rich CP920 and CP230 will soon become standard equipment for watching news, sports, music video and other video clips anywhere, anytime as the Video Eyewear units are bundled with cutting edge mobile phones “Our Video Eyewear solves the fundamental problems associated with the mobile phone’s small direct view displays and, at the same time, offers a home theatre experience that fits in your pocket or purse." Orders are now being taken with volume deliveries expected this summer. Units are expected to retail for under $299US worldwide. more info at: www.icuiti.com or www.videoeyewear.com.
