Carphone Warehouse to Sponsor the X factor
19 June 2007 by axxxr Carphone Warehouse has signed up to sponsor The X Factor in a three-year multi-million pound deal. Speculation tipping the retailer as new backer for the programme had previously been played down but Carphone has been without a significant television sponsorship presence since it pulled its £3m deal with Channel 4's Big Brother following the race row that attracted international publicity earlier this year. Carphone Warehouse will sponsor the fourth series of the ITV talent show this summer, including repeats and brand extensions like The Xtra Factor on ITV2. The deal also includes an extended off-air package of rights covering broadband, interactive, licensing and merchandising rights. Nokia sponsored the first three series of The X Factor, since it began in 2004. But questions over Nokia's partnership with ITV were raised after regulator Ofcom upheld complaints that said there were too many references to Nokia products during the show. Ofcom said the 13 close-up shots of a Nokia phone shown in one episode last September were in breach of its broadcasting code. source:mobiletoday
