Having co-operated successfully in mobile phone handsets Sony and Ericsson are eyeing what they expect will be a boom market enabling people to watch TV on mobile handsets.
ESATO NEWS
At a joint Sony and Ericsson press conference in Stockholm, Per Nordlof, Ericsson's director of product strategy told reporters that about one third of the world's mobile phone users will regularly be watch TV broadcasts on their handsets in two years.
"It plays to the strength of both companies," Eric Siereveld, Sony Europe's director of professional solutions, was reported saying. He claimed Ericsson was the lead supplier of mobile TV networks, while Sony has a lead in TV receiving equipment.
Such solutions - based on the Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA), a cross-industry standard for allowing digital devices to share content through a home network - could hit the market by the second half of 2007, Nordlof said. Ericsson and Sony will also work together to create new software to power such DLNA-based home networks, he said.

this might be the next best thing after cam phones and music phones.
also today ericsson annouched a contract with belgian operator proximus to deliver a state of the art mobile TV solotion.
for me and for ericsson this is a big vicotry, cause every piece of equipment proximus has is made by nokia.
With Ericsson and Nokia gone: we must keep their spirits alive and buy JOLLA or YOTA |

Due to lack of good programs & a move away from terrestrial broadcasts advertisers have been stumped by where to go, the more channels the fewer people watching your advert,
so the chance to get people on there phones will not be missed & we may even see free handsets to customers willing to have a phone that is locked to just a few choice stations.
heres my forcasts;
When sending a picture msg, u could pay full price or have an option to get the send price halved if u accept to watch four 15 second commercials.
or frree calls for a year if u accept to watch 1 episode of "the price is right"

Bravia is the name of the technology used to develop the new screen and its this that is listed in the specs for the W44s. I hope this phone comes to Euroland.

@goldenface
and a coffee maker to boot.
But wasn't Wega only used in rear-projection TVs? BRAVIA seems more logical to me. It's newer and more relavent.

I don't think the actual handsets will be branded for some reason.
I think it will just be listed as using Bravia/Wega technology in the manuals / specifications.
