Sony Ericsson to Use "WEGA" brand for mobile phones31 August 2006 by axxxr
"We have plans", Rikko Sakaguchi, Senior Vice President of Product and Application Planning told a press conference in Malmo, Sweden. Mr Sakaguchi who is responsible for new products released by the mobile phone giant, went on to say "It is a very viable idea and it is something we are planning, watch this space". The comment is the first time that sony ericsson,which already uses Sony's Walkman and Cyber-Shot branding devices on its music and camera phones implied that it was looking to do the same for mobile television focused phones. source: pocket-lint

Well this is just bloody annoying...I lvoe SE AND SONY and will always buy them, but they have to allow people to catch up with thier products...I just bought a K800i and now they want me to buy a WEGA PHONE?!!?

This is no surprise, Sharp have launched a mobile TV phone with there Aquos technology AND name on it. Hopefully the tech from these companies will filter down to there other models too.

well nothing new - the phones will be.
Some suggestions ... incredibly high res screens (no less than VGA). DMB-TV channel selection like FEEDS/Favorites that can be modified or updated with region (timezone switching). DONT countersink volume buttons please / make them robust.

What the reason in branding?
Cyber-shot phone K800 is dissapointing in picture quality, and especially in video quality. I bet WEGA phone will be poor compared to competitors like sharp 905 or nokia n92.
SE is fooling us :(
