Could it be due to the touch screen that would be too sensitive? If the phone rings, I expect the touch screen becomes active for the user to press something somewhere (some menu * à la Nokia). Now, if it would vibrate, maybe it would answer calls without the user pressing on the screen.
Generally, it would be good to know how the phone reacts when it's in the pocket, the keypad is away, and it starts ringing...

Just had it confirmed by a contact of mine; the P800 does vibrate...

If you want to take a look out at the general layout of the OS, you can actually download an emulator from Symbian and play with a virtual phone. It's not quite like the P800 will be (the emulator is V6.1 of Quartz rather than V7.0) but it's almost identical in appearance. It mostly shows the PDA side of the OS, as many phone functions are phone specific. The download is over 100MB though, so you might want a broadband connection!
