@Cytech
can you tell me in a few words, what they're talking about in the video?
Are you noticed, that there is a wakaba and some futabas working there, and some, that've never seen before, (circled). what is it?
Posted by bart
some of those phones where made in co op with NEC.
And we all know how many look alike phones are out in china.
Posted by wapt
@Zsolthy,
That's a Qualcomm test unit.

@Zsolthy
I'll do at as soon as I'm on a comp with speakers

btw... here is a quick translation of the article:
The secret mobile lab of Ericsson
In the lab mobile networks can be simulated in order to test new features before release to network providers.
The labs simulates real phone traffic and there is around 200 basestations - both GSM and 3G - and thousands of phones that makes tens of thousands calls each hour.
"Here we test the newest techonolgy. That you as a user will see tomorrow, we test today", says Jeanette Friberg, marketing manager for Ericsson Radio Networks.
"How secret is it?"
"Sure it's secret, all that takes place here. It all comes down to our strategy, but at the same time we must cooperate with mobile manufacturers. They must know if there new features does work when users starts using them."
Right now many of the tests is about increasing the speed in the networks. Today the maxmium speed is 7.2Mbit/s but Ericsson is now as per routine testing on 14Mbit/s. And also about to start testing at speed over 20Mbit/s.

@Cytech

@zsolthy:
the GO118 aswell as the GS18 were built by Orbitel. They were also sold under Orbitel label as 907 and 905. While the GS18 came with data connectivity (built in modem and data cable), the GO118 didn't have this feature.
GS18:

GO118:

Quite interesting is that I recently found a GO188 that no one ever heard of. I assume Ericsson changed the name during the development phase as they did with S838 -> A1018s and S988 -> T18s, too.

Hi!
I need Your help!
Somebody know what does the Serial Number mean?
Not the IMEI number!
Thanks
Posted by jcwhite_uk
What do you means? It is the serial number nothing else.
Posted by tranced
i assume you have a k770, but are you asking this for this model?
if so, check the back side, where the battery goes.
Posted by ericssonK770
Ok, I know what is the IMEI number, thanks.
But every phone has a serial number too.
And what is the serial number?
There is any logic in the serial number?
It comes from the IMEI, or from the country code?
This is my question!
Thank You!
Posted by ericssonK770
There are any connection between the IMEI and the Serial Number (S/N)?
Thank you so much!

When a manufacturer makes the phone they give it there own Serial number, as does every other device manufacturer in the world! the only relation would be that they keep a record of the IMEI that was given to the device with that particular Serial Number...

Hi,
thanks to Zsolthy I received a real rarity today: An early version of the yellow T36. The flip still sais T29m and it's got a flip release button but the board is a true T36.
There are a few little spots on the back but for such a treasure I will visit a professional car painter to get the matching color. The same way I will also remove the 2 little sopts on the blue display frame.
The phone came with a marble beige T28 antenna (hanky, now you should remember that phone) but due to some lucky reasons I had a prototype antenna with translucent blue T29 socket but a long cap like on T28. Though I don't know if this antenna belongs to this phone, I thought it matches the best.

I wonder why it says T29m when the T29m didnt have a flip release button.
Posted by bart
yes it is strange.
maby they were going to call it T29m because of the succes of the T28s.
do you consider selling that phone?
Posted by r0sewhite
Renaming models wasn't uncommon at Ericsson. Look at the S838 which became the A1018s or the S988 which became the T18s. So I wasn't very surprised about the "T29m" on the flip. Btw: There was never a T29m, only a T29s or T29sc.
No bart, of course I would never sell it. A yellow T36, doesn't matter if with blue or silver display frame, is for sure much more rare than a Hedvig. I think such phones stay in a collection until one decides to give up his whole collection.
r0sewhite
PS: Just because I'm curious: Bart, what would a collector like you pay for this phone?

a collector, hmm thats something you should ask the rest.
for me the T36m in yellow has been as important as the RX1 prototype.
for me personally its the ultimed phone.
My first phone ever was the T28s, it made me fall in love with Ericsson and the hole telecom world, from the moment i saw the T36m i was seduced by its looks, its power (for a cellphone). Still i became sad when they sad it was cancelled, but then on cebit 200x we saw the T68m and well yea you know, all hell broke loos.
being a fair man understanding how much somethings are worth: i would pay for a fully working, in perfect condition yellow T36m the price of: 100euro

don't really have much money at this moment, the economy you know.
Posted by dantob
@r0sewhite: Congratulations, this really should be one of a kind. I had no idea something like this has ever been made, even as a proto. I doubt there will ever come up something similar in any collection.
As for its value, I don't think it can be estimated at all; however, one more zero added to bart's offer should be a more realistic estimate.

Hi guys!
Can someone tell me if we can still get Ericsson firmware upgrades? I tried SE but they don't seem to have any more Ericssons on their updates section.
Posted by bucheral
Hello Ericsson friends
many thanks and congratulation to all the Ericsson Mobile makers for the fantastic long-lasting T65 generation. You won't believe, the first T65, the dark cosmic one on the left, I bought in October 2002, so six years ago. I have used it often in the early years, five or six calls a week nowadays, the battery still last in standby modus for 220 hours (says the phone) the reality is about six days. I never changed the battery, no bugs no problems at all, it seems a miracle.... ok, I took care, the phone never fell to ground, I cleaned it often and i still like it as no other phone in this world....
has anyone made the same experience?
Posted by mcrosser
well I never really had an Ericsson phone, but watching threads like these makes me wanna buy one sometines. But I always wanted a T100 even though it's not ericsson, can't find it anymore.

where did u find thos
Posted by r0sewhite
Most of my collectables I have found on eBay, tradera and other online auctions. But even more important is to have friends like wapt, zsolthy, hanky and others all over the world. Without their help I would still miss a lot of rarities.
This time I've got a phone call from a former Ericsson developer engineer who found my website and asked me if I would like to have some stuff that he kept from the time he worked for Ericsson. It wasn't the first time that someone who once worked for Ericsson contacted me through my website. And I hope it wasn't the last time

Hehe it was never opened:). Look at the warranty sticker on the place where aerial must be.
To open it you need something slim or good nails:).
Open it by slightly putting knife or nail under plastic cover on one of the sides of the phone from bottom to the top. There are latches on the inner side of the plastic part on left and right sides of the phone, two on the bottom on the both sides of the connector and one on the top near the hollow on the magnesium part.

that phone show what telecom has become.
the good old days are over, no more innovation, no more quality, no more

Hello to everyone!
These are my new arrivals! A3618, R320sc and A1018. The A1018 is very strange, it has an unknown colour scheme and a screen protection, I never saw this on an A1018, what could that be?
The R320sc comes with chinese menu, can anybody tell me, how to switch from chinese to english? For more pix of these new phones, just watch the update section of my page.
Merry Christmas to every Ericcson friend in the world!
Alex
Posted by r0sewhite
Hi Alex,
to switch the R320sc language, simply take another R320s and write down the steps you need to enter the language menu. Then do the same steps/clicks with your R320sc. AFAIK you won't find German language in the R320sc firmware but at least English.
Regarding the A1018s: There was a series of art panels like this one. They all had a protection glass for the LCD. Here you can see all available panels:

A lot of /// phones you could do *#0000# on the keyboard to take it back to english. Not sure if that works on the R320sc

many thanks for your help!

If the codes do not work, refer to steps in the picture to switch R320sc from chinese to english.
Posted by r0sewhite
Ah, wapt, that's a great idea. Are these symbols (disregarding menu numbers) the same on any /// phone?
r0sewhite
Posted by bucheral
@wapt:
thanks, I was able to resolve the problem just by putting in a sim card from orange, I was surprised to discover that the phone set the language automatically to the the language that was preloaded on the sim, in this case: english (because it did not find german) .....
Posted by wapt
r0sewhite,
The characters are not totally the same on all models, but mostly as I think. I can not tell any changes anywhere clearly. While I prefer have my menu in English, as more lines can be displayed in the screen.
One possibility of difference can be seen when software update which may make menu change.
Another difference is that the menu of software versions of Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese. Seems even the Hong Kong and Taiwan software can have a bit different in menu although they are both with Traditional Chinese.
Alex,
Lucky you.
