Hi Guys! I'm back in London for a week, and while at home - I noticed the handsets at home (2x Ericsson DT200's) had a very low earpiece volume - even when turned up at the handset - so this morning, I decided to fix this problem!

I opened one of the Ericsson handsets, and saw the earpiece speaker - God knows why it's such low volume - very weird indeed...So I recall, from my time at Orange - I had an old K810i, which had been smashed to bits (Long story) - it sat in an Orange bag in my old bedroom - so I began the operation as such lol!

I transplanted the earpiece speaker from my K810i, to the DT200 - and, after a bit of internal fascia modding, the Earpiece speaker from the K810i sat nicely in the DT200 housing - I attached it with some double sided sticky tape, and hey presto - the DT200 is back in action!!

The Basestation says 'DT230' - but the handsets are all DT200's...always was the case with these Ericsson DECT Phones!

Great handsets - great design...!

That's Vein his Wakaba.

Look at the little missing corner..

Posted by Ginz
What's a bit strange to me, you (Vein) didn't wrote in the discription that the phone is not working. Or is the testfirmware working? Ifso, do you have a picture?

I can imagine that you're hoping on a high price, but this is essential information.

in the Item Specifics he wrote "Simlock: Test Software"

but yes is't a bit high price, but you can offer a lower price.
i would buy it, but first i want an R290 or Hedvig. sadly i have to miss this chance...

is the T28 battey fits into this?

As far as I know, it cannot turn on, but when it did it used to run the test software. It probably has only a software problem, which can be fixed if you have a special flash connector that connects the pins underneath the battery, cruiser box and of course the right flash file. But I think r0sewhite could tell us more about how to fix such a failure on the Wakaba.
I personly think, that the price is a little too high.
And yes, T28 battery fits on it, but you cannot charge the phone with CST-13, since it has a parted, fully different system connector.

I have no idea about digital phones. It is very useful now a days.

To be honest: Though I repaired hundrets of /// mobiles I was never able to get a Wakaba working again. I tried to repair 7 units so far. The problem ist, that they all differ extremely. You can't use the experience from one Wakaba to fix another one. So I am pretty unsure if I would be able to fix this one.

Furthermore I don't think it's a software related problem. Software doesn't stop working. And even if it's a software problem: Ericsson_man gave me his flash interface for a while and though I could boot some of the Wakaba, I couldn't change anything like flashing the phone.

Sorry, Veins Wakaba probably remains unusable. And therefor the demanded price is much too high in my eyes. The only fully operational Wakaba in excellent condition I know went for 300 Euro. Non-working units in perfect condition go between 100 and 200 Euro. Veins unit is neither working nor in perfect condition. So make up your mind about its value.

Well, to be honest, I never repaired any Wakaba phones, altough I have one non working as well.
All I know is, that software can stop working sometimes. I see it everyday on a lot of SonyEricsson K800. They just suddenly stop working and the only thing that fixes them is Pre-Configuration, which is a software related problem, and after that a software update content refresh.
But I'm sure r0sewhite is right, since he knows more about fixing vintage Ericssons, than probably any of us on this forum.

Posted by r0sewhite
@hanky:
this problem only occurs on later SE models which have a file system. Not on older phones that have their primary firmware on a simple flash rom.

However, even if it is a software problem, there is no help: I know only one existing set of flash files (which I have got) but no one will be able to flash it into a Wakaba.

As time moves on its getting harder and harder to get hold of some Ericsson phones for us collectors/fans.

More and more of our kind our selling our collection, for one reason only: we need money.
The economy is going bad, some of us have lost their jobs or just found a new one after months of unemployment.
In other words, the once so great Ericsson phones are fading away from this earth...

I ask myself who's to blaim? And realize that i need more fingers to point.
Liberalisme, more and more things are done on global scale, and we are seeing lots of company's more to low cost country's. Country's that are overpopulated, don't deliver the same quality, and can't protect the inverment.
Overpopulation and globalisation are things that aren't a good thing, mankind isn't ready for that.
Times like these aren't new, the same thing happend in europe about a centry ago.
And again we can't point the same finger: politicians who have the wrong idea (or are plain stupid), immigrants, communist, socialists,...
What we need is nationalist, people who believe in themselves, in their country, in the people of europe (not the EU) and the people in the world who want and can make this planet a better place.

I hearby encouraged all of my fellow collectors/fans to make every day count, to do what you can for yourself, famely, country and planet.
And if you need any help: someone to talk 2, someone to ask advice, or anything you can think of... Feel free to contact me, and i'll do what ever i can to help you guys & girls.

i don't smoke.
i'm ok, i'm just raising my voice and saying whats on my mind, whats on many people's mind.

Posted by Marly
This topic is about Ericsson phones, @bart : what on earth do the things you have on your mind have to do with Ericsson phones ?

Posted by bart
people are selling their Ericsson collection because of the "bad times"

Posted by r0sewhite
bart, there will always be people selling something because they need money. Vein wanted to sell his collection since a long time (I guess almost 2 years) because he just wasn't much interested in it.

And to be honest: Of course I love my collection but it's not more than a little luxury. Truely, my collection is the only thing I own, that is good for nothing. It's just nice to watch them.

So stay cool. Times are not worse, some people just think worse. And not to everyone a collection has the same value.

Wow! Haven't been here for a loooooooong time.

I'm never selling any of my Ericsson phones, actually have got rid of three SE phones but not a single Ericsson. In fact, the last couple of days I have been using my favourite cellphone of all times- the R320s. I can't remember how many times people actually asked where, when and how long kind of questions.

The one thing I enjoyed was/is the strong vibrate of the phone, I never missed a call even when I had it on vibrate only. I also forgot how you could go for more hours on a low battery than current phones, truly a joy to use.

The one amazing thing though is that I still use the original battery after eight years- the BSL-11. I actually had reservations about the battery three years ago that I bought a generic one just in case, but it is still going strong.

Unfortunately I can't find batteries for my GH688, got 3 for the R600 though.

I wish I had a magic wand and wave so as to bring Ericsson (by itself) back. Those were the days.

Lucky, lucky you....

That will never happen here in Holland

Posted by r0sewhite
@Zsolthy:

Don't worry, most of your listed bugs are wellknown or are not even bugs (i.e. the T36 does not support GPRS). Regarding the freezing problem: If you have an old 5V simcard, try this one. The T36 proto firmware just doesn't like modern 3V simcards, as I found.

Uncommon problems at your T36 are:
- no backlight (should work with any known firmware)
- no flip functions
- no possibility to change menu text size
- no possibility to change time and date

These functions did work on the 4 T36 I have held in my hands so far but all T36 have had problems by editing and saving some menu functions so I guess it's all a problem of not being able to save a changed function properly.

However, your unit does look very good and the price is more than a bargain. The average price is around 300 euro.

And by the way: e-zones has been relaunched now. There are several improvements so just try it out. Also, I added some groups.

then go to the update folder)

Thanks Alex

The lx677 is from usa, AMPS(800)/TDMA(1900) i buy one lx677, but it was jut a gh688 in LX cover, so the seller dish me... the NH238 was used on analog NMT450 network, but it's completly shutted down on the whole planet...

Posted by r0sewhite
@bucheral:
though the phone's condition look very good I hope you didn't pay much: Especially in the past year I have found several brand new LX677 at ebay USA for 1 dollar plus shipping. Average shipping costs are 20 USD so the total costs are still pretty cheap.

@Zsolthy:
The NMT450 is still in use on Iceland. But I guess bucheral wouldn't travel such a distance to check if his phone is fully operational

r0sewhite

Posted by Zsolthy
@r0sewhite
And yes, i search on the wiki, and truly works in iceland. then i remembered wrong, because i read somewhere, that all NMT suspended, the last in Sweden @2007.12.31. but anyway its a good news, because is can use my nokia 650, and my dancall logic:) sadly i dont have NMT ericsson, but i'd like an FH212 but its a dream:( in here hungary, its impossible to find a phone like this..

Hi Alex,
it's a Ascom Discovery, a licensed built phone like the B&O, too. It's not more than a GH337 in different housing but in good condition pretty rare and therefore a nice collectable.

if you dare opening the phone you can probably find production date inside.. Here in Sweden the original "Cobra" phones are quite hot and you can get quite a lot when selling them, specially the red model.
