My mum used to have a

but she sold that for a V3688!?
I was so angry (this was at the time when I had no phone, so I used to play on my mum's) and asked her WHY! She just went "oh it's just easier to talk when you open the flip".

Not sure if anyone´s interessted, but Ericsson started an Offboard Navigation System last Week.
https://mobilenavigation.ericsson.com/site/portal.jsp
I´m not sure if it uses Technology from Wayfinder or if they developed it on their own.
IMHO it doesn´t make sense to launch such a System when there are so many free Offboard Systems like Nav4all.... I´m not willing to pay for it...even if it says Ericsson on the Screen.
Cheers

Hi Everyone,
i am after a R520 TU1 if any one has one please let me know
meny thanks

@cytech
Certainly looks better than a Motorola brick!

By the way, you really exist?
Posted by r0sewhite
@ericsson_man:
as far as I remember there was a TU2 last week on ebay germany which was sold for less than 40 Euro. I will keep my eyes open for a TU1.
Once again, I am a lucky guy: For a long time I was watching Yahoo Taiwan with its nice Ericsson auctions and hoped to get a A3618 coca cola edition one day. But contacting these sellers seemed impossible. A few days ago now a seller from Taiwan offered both coca cola phones, the red aswell as the silver one, on ebay germany. Both phones are brand new in box and have been unpacked only once to take pictures. Here they are now:

@all pls lets keep to topic ( cytech-files ) , thx

Hi Boba,
both boxes are in perfect condition. The label on both boxes indicate, that the red aswell as the silver edition are based on the the normal graphite silver A3618. Since both boxes are the same, they only have a little dot at one side which is silver or red.
@Alexandra: Show me a Pepsi edition and I would like to get it

Don't you reconize this phone is the James Bond phone? Used in Tomorrow Never Dies?
He jumped in the back of his 7-series MBW and drove his car using his finger on de black round 'touchpad'. At the large display he saw were his car was driving.

Too bad only a dummy.
A read on the internet that there were 3 phones with a working (static) display. All others (total 12 pieces) are 100% dummies.
Posted by r0sewhite
@hanky:
there was no working JB988. They are only dummies. You can see that the signs are printed on the display.
Btw: I will return your phone during this week

@Ginz:
there were 12 units officially given to the movie company but probably at Ericsson there are a few more that we don't know about. I don't think that they produced exactly 12 units because they had an order of 12 units. AFAIK the units which have been given away after they made the movie all come with a certifica of autheticity. Since I know the source where you have got yours from, I think this is not one out of the known 12.

I also do think it's a possibility that there are more then 12. But we never saw anything about that.
I could also have been possibile that they trown away the certifica of autheticity. Also because it was just in a plastic bag with many other (normal) dummies.

Well, all JB988 have been dummies, but there have been some with working displays used in the movie. They had no phone-functions - just some animations on the display.

I think there are a lot of collectables we don't know about because they were never offially released or sold. There is probably a lot of beautiful stuff to find at former Ericsson workers because they brought things from work at home and just kept it. Look at my green T29: Nobody knew about it until a Ericsson worker from Malaysia told me that he's got 2 of them and that I can have them. This is surely not the only case.
But honestly: Especially these unknown items make collecting so great. I would be disappointed if someone told me that there are no further unknown collectables to discover.

The biggest dream is offcourse if you find a real unique model. Like you've been te first one who saw a Hedvig.... I think we would all drool like a little kid

Got some new treasures. Highlights are Walentina (R520 UMTS prototype), Futaba, a T28s prototype with nice design and a R190 in pearly grey/white

r0sewhite
Posted by BobaFett
amazing ones, congratulations

is the umts proto a working one? as i recall ericsson_man has got one too
Posted by *Jojo*
@rose - Nice ! I like the R190-Satellite Fone

Posted by r0sewhite
@Boba:
Walentina comes only with a testsoftware, you can't make phonecalls. The others are fully working, even the Futaba. The Futaba menu is quite strange, looks more like a PC Windows. Most functions are working fine, including the recording of movies with the cam. All I discovered so far is that sometimes there is no sound when you play movies but this is no problem. Unlike modern phones Futaba doesn't have a second powerfull speaker so the only sound source is the little speaker for making phonecalls.
@Jojo:
If Tom had such a nice phone we had a good movie less
