Hi everyone

I am new to this so please excuse the following questions which may seem obvious to you but I have searched the site and cannot find the answers.

1. I notice that a lot of you post your questions/answers by phone - how do you set this up to be able to read the threads - do you do this by internet/wap or by email and how do you set it up?

2. I am somewhat confused about the costs for T-mobile and have a choice of GPRS OR WAP CSD - is one better for email accounts and the other for web/wap?

3. Do you p800 users tend to use WAP addresses or use conventional www sites - what is the benefit of either and where do you find the wap addresses from?

I apologise again but I am new to this and would appreciate some help

Many thanks

Simon

You don't say in your post where you are from, but I do have some insight into how T-Mobile works in the US:

T-Mobile has (or had) several levels of "T-Zones"-- one was $2 for 2mb, another was $10 for 10mb. T-Zones was supposedly WAP only, but in reality, it was full Internet. Some people paid $20 per month for 10mb of "T-Mobile Internet," not knowing that they would get exactly the same thing if they got the $10 T-Zones deal. Do you follow? (I barely can!)

Recently, T-Mobile launched an awesome "unlimited" deal which is only $19.99 per month-- again, it's everything-- not just WAP, so it's a pretty great deal.

If you're NOT from the US, probably none of this applies to you...and I hope I have'nt led you astray!

Enjoy your p800...

Some info (T-Mobile-UK):
T-Mobile GPRS = 0.7p per KB (£7 per Meg)
T-Mobile CSD = 10p per min.

However, if you call T-Mobile cust services, u can get a special deal for GPRS, £20 for 10MB (£2 per meg).

Which is cheaper? Well via the special bundle, GPRS is almost always cheaper for MOST things. Though this really depends on how you use the phoen. Since u have a P800, time your sessions based on how much you download, and over how long, and compare it to how much u woudl save using GPRS, or CSD. I suspect even with the more expensive £7 per meg standard GPRS its prolly cheaper in most cases than CSD.

I use my connection for MSN and IMAP mail on my laptop via GPRS. i woudl be online for at least 2 hours at a time. This would cost me £12.00 on CSD, but via GPRS (thanks for the low bandwidth requirements) usually costs me about 30p per average session.

As for which is better, WAP or WWW. well of course WWW has content availbel., and better presented. However, thanks to much larger files, take longer to download, and cost MUCH more. Use WAP where possible, switch to WWW if you have to.

As for settings. Unlike another company's weird GPRS policies (The company is named after both a colour and a fruit). T-MobileUK as only one simple setting for all GPRS activities. Set up yr mail client to use it, and you may have to set the outgoing SMTP server to smtp.t-email.co.uk to be able to send out mail.

@sunjivas: there is also a "Chelsea" in New York City... I was born in Essex myself (Romford) but now live in the states. Almost any city name in England has a counterpart here in the US, so it's not always possible to guess from the place name alone.
