As confirmed, their GPRS service will only be free until the 15th of april. I thought id be switching to sun but nope. Ill remain with globe. Free pa ang wap over gprs.

Posted by dlreyes
Posting via Sun gprs... got my postpaid account a while ago and was activated after about 5 hours... now to take advantage of the free service.

Posted by kapitan jackal
@boss chits, just to re-confirm. gprs is free until when?

Posted by bal_yee
Anybody care 2 give their comment on the post paid plans n phone packages sun is offering

Posted by dlreyes
kapjack, gprs and The Mall services are free until April 15 daw... no info on how much they will charge gprs after that.

bal, the post paid plans are consumable and could be applied to ndd, idd, text and other value added services somewhat like the old Smart plan.

Posted by cooLmaxTDi
It's another CHEAP trick! LėteraLLy! Just to get a subscriber base then the rates will follow with the standard of GLOBE and SMART!

Sun is runned by digėtel.

Posted by maorivera
After reading everything here, i don't wanna try sun anymore...

what "Mall Services"?

Posted by dlreyes
We have to remember that the old consumable Smart plans (the cheapest being plan 600) are very much in demand now and are being sold in the buyers market for almost P5,000... Digitel's Sun Cellular is offering its lowest consumable plan at P250 and to add more enticements, Sun's call rates (local and ndd) are slashed for the first 6 months.

"The Mall" is a Sun's version of Globexplore and Zed where one could access information and value added services from the sim itself.

GPRS Connection speed tested with the following bandwidth meters:

Cnet - 32 kbps
2Wire - 36.6 kbps

faster than Globe or Smart... probably because there are no users yet.

Posted by kapitan jackal
@coolmax- it's not a cheap trick. it's a basic business strategy

Posted by arnoldc
chito, during the early stages of smart's gprs my max speed was 32kbps. i am probably the only user then, he he he.

Dapat mag s switch kuya ko to Sun kasi lilipat sya ng job sa Aklan...and since consumable nga yung rates nya including NDD...he decided to give it a try, which includes a t68i when you subscribe at their 1000 plan (switcher)

Kaya lang sa December pa daw magkakaroon ng signal sa Aklan...sabi ng Sun sa Kuya ko...and yung t68i...kapag binigay mo pati yung handset mo...where my Kuya is using a...sorry ha...7650...although advise naman nila kahit anong handset pwedeng ibigay...basta magbibigay ng handset...kaya nga lang walang signal sa Aklan until december...sad noh!?!

to see a fax copy of the list of phones Sun is offering with the corresponding plans and prices.

The copy is c/o onwils (Wilson) of BnC

magkano po ba prepaid sim ng sun? and ano po mga denominations ng prepaid cards nila?

Posted by mariolouis
@boss chito
may bayad yung registration fee?

Posted by dlreyes
For Plan 250, there is a P1,250 registration fee. The fee is waived if you get Plan 1000 or higher.

Posted by dlreyes
Texting from Sun to Smart and vice versa now possible.

Posted by doctabako
since they have gprs, can anyone tell me if sun offers mms? if so what are their rates. tia

Posted by dlreyes
GPRS on prepaid account is now possible... mine has just been activated.

Posted by ynohtna
Any final update re their free gprs until april 15?How about MMS?Whats their wap portal url?

Posted by RANDYC
got mine activated also, barely 24 hours after i requested it thru their hotline..

mine is prepaid....

the problem is what is the settings so I can use the wap over gprs in my t68i.... ip address, APN, etc.

Posted by dlreyes
Just to make it clear... GPRS is now available for both postpaid and prepaid subscribers.

For Postpaid:
Make sure you have requested gprs to be activated when you fill up your application form and Service Agreement.

For Prepaid:
Call the hotline (200) and request it to be activated. You have to call again if you made your request prior to the late afternoon of April 5.

"The Mall" only has configuration for MMS and not gprs.

To take advantage of gprs for SURFING, make APN=minternet.

If you want to wap over gprs, use a proven open gateway ip address such as o2 (193.113.200.195) or Ericsson (193.95.167.178).

i was wondering what was the benefit for those who pre preregistered at their mall booths? nagpagod pa ako ng pila e wala naman palang kabutihan na naidulot sa akin. ni email ala din akong natanggap. siguro business strategy lang nila yun para ipresent sa kanilang mga investors para ma assure them. pathetic. cheap trick

Posted by dlreyes
Yeah, it could have been a marketing strategy in the part of
Sun to assure them that they could at least get 100,000 subscribers during their launch... I think it was also a survey to determine how many would be interested with postpaid and prepaid plans.

I was not able to get an email myself considering that I applied in their booths and through their website but Sun offered their Pioneer Program not only to the first 100,000 subscribers but to ALL who apply during this period.

Sun may have not informed their potential subscribers through email but they have used a better venue for public notification namely, newspaper publications, tv and radio ads.

Here n lucena full bar at superbilis ng gprs, in pque one bar at may gprs, SM southmall full bar at may gprs. But i stil keep my globe as primary n sun as back up

Posted by ynohtna
@peepsPor pabor.Hangang kailan free gprs nila? What is their wap portal url?

Posted by dlreyes
They say that free services (The Mall and gprs access) are until April 15 and just to wait for further announcements.

I couldn't care less of Sun's wap portal URL for I always have Esato as my homepage.

INTERCONNECTION: Though Sun has interconnected with almost all Philippine Local Carriers for voice and text, it still CANNOT call the network of the Asia Cellular Satellite (ACeS) with a prefix of +63.98.

Posted by randyrivera
para dun sa may mga t39/r520 na naka sun, heto background logo ng sun cellular, di na ako gumawa ng para sa t68i or p800 dahil madali lang naman yung mga yun, o heto
