Nokia isn’t the only company facing trouble, with HTC receiving a battering from Apple and Samsung in smartphone sales. The company has tried to streamline its product line, but consumers still seem to be turning to the Galaxy S line as well as the iPhone. Bloomberg reports that Peter Chou, CEO of HTC, has sent out a email designed to rally employees, describing how the company needs to get to grips with the current situation.

In the email, Chou lays out how the company needs to “kill bureaucracy” while improving communication, going on to say, “We have people in meeting[s] and talking all the time but without decision, strategic direction or sense of urgency. Bureaucracy crept in without clear ownership. We agreed to do something but we either didn’t do it or executed it loosely.”

I will bet against HTC coming back, I just don't see a way back for them.

I hope they do comeback, they seemed unstoppable up until last year, that Evo 3D ruined them, they had invested a lot into 3D it seems and it failed, BADLY, LG seem to have made the same mistake, luckily their LTE phones are doing well for them.

Whatever they come back with.... I hope it has a Battery that lasts a day...

An unlock bootloader
User-replaceable battery
Memory card slot

HTC will come back. They seem to be doing well in America right now.

If they want to come back its more than the phones that need to be improved, customer service needs a big kick up the arse to

Posted by Bonovox
And they have just announced their new Windows 8 handsets. They look very Lumia like with bright colours. I like them too

come back.don't come back.who cares.

I like them really funky phones with great specs. The front facing camera even does 1080p video. At least the dust days behind the screen has gone with HTC. They now have no air gap between screen and glass. I still prefer Nokia Lumia Windows 8 but these are good. Weighing it up Nokia would have better camera, more apps whilst HTC would have Beats Audio

Why does Japan always get the best??

When I was in Malaysia and Singapore, I saw that everyone has a phone with a massive screen. Rush hour on the Singapore metro is when you'll see everyone with a Galaxy Note. A friend went to China and saw the same thing. The screen does look amazing, very bright display.

Posted by Bonovox
Yes it does and HTC screens have also improved too. Though as it's a thin phone the battery is not really very large for powering quad core and a full HD display. When you think about it,it's like carrying a miniture HD tv

Htc J should have been globally announced! Since the phone is longer they could have put in a larger battery. But it seems htc will always skimp out on battery!

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Lol, why is there always atleast one major drawback with HTCs???

HTC J sounded great, until i saw the battery and region availability, ffs HTC!!

Hopefully they'll introduce the global version of this at MWC2013 with a bigger battery.

I personally would rather have a larger battery than a skinny phone. I am not fussed in having something so thin that battery life is sacrificed. I am quite happy to have that slightly larger or thicker handset but at the same time not too large like a tablet

Indeed, mobile phones are now developing rapidly, constantly introducing new products, such as iphone, Samsung, Lenovo, great competition, but also followed the era of big change htc, shape, configuration, then humanity constantly support htc phone.

Back in the day (early 2000's), HTC and Compaq were the 2 BEST Business fones. Though it only comes in Black and White color-screen (green one too), owning one (high-end models) would cost you US$ 700-1K !

Compaq never built a business phone.

Compaq built a PDA called the iPaq. Like Handsprings first offerings, the PDA’s each built had PCII Card modules - first was modems (aircards) then phone modules. They never built a phone.

HP Bought Compaq and then continued the iPaq line-up and made it a phone.

There is a reason why Compaq is NOT on https://www.gsmarena.com/makers.php3
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPAQ

The first iPAQ Pocket PC was the H3600 series, released in 2000.[1] It ran Microsoft's Pocket PC 2000 operating system, and featured a 240 x 320 pixel 4096-color LCD, 32 MB of RAM, and 16 MB of ROM.[2][3] Compaq released a similarly-designed H3100 series Pocket PC in January, 2001.[4] It was a lower-priced model[5] with a 15-greyscale monochrome LCD, 16 MB of RAM, and a dark grey D-pad instead of the chrome D-pad of its predecessor.[6][3] The H3600 series was succeeded by the H3800 and H3900 series, which retained the same form factor, but had a different button layout.

Soon after HP's merger with Compaq in 2002, HP discontinued its Jornada line of Microsoft Windows powered Pocket PCs, and continued the iPAQ line that started under Compaq.

In June 2003, HP retired the h3xxx line of iPAQs and introduced the h1xxx line of iPAQs targeted at price conscious buyers, the h2xxx consumer line, and the h5xxx line, targeted at business customers. They were sold pre-installed with the Windows Mobile for Pocket PC 2003 Operating System. The h63xx series of iPAQs running the Phone Edition of Windows Mobile 2003, the hx47xx series and the rz17xx series, both running the Second Edition of Windows Mobile 2003 were introduced in August 2004.

In August 2004, HP released the rz17xx and rx3xxx series of Mobile Media Companions. These devices were aimed at consumers, rather than the traditional corporate audience. Emphasis was placed on media features, like NEVO TV Remote and Mobile Media. They ran on Windows Mobile 2003SE.

In February 2005, the iPAQ Mobile Messenger hw6500 series was introduced to selected media at the 3GSM conference in Cannes, France. It was replaced a year later by the hw6900 series, running on Windows Mobile 5.

In 2007, the iPAQ rx4000 Mobile Media Companion PDA/media devices and rx5000 Travel Companion PDA/GPS devices were released. Both series of iPAQs work on the Windows Mobile 5 Operating System (WM5), as do the hx2000 and hw6900 series. The first HP Windows Mobile 6 device, the iPAQ 500 Series Voice Messenger, with the Windows Mobile 6 Standard Operating System (WM6), and numeric pad, was released in the same year.

The entire iPAQ line was completely revamped by the introduction of five new iPAQ series to complement the introduction of the iPAQ 500 Series Voice Messenger earlier in the year. The models announced were the 100 Series Classic Handheld, the 200 Series Enterprise Handheld, the 300 Series Travel Companion, the 600 Series Business Navigator and the 900 Series Business Messenger. The 100 and 200 Series are regular touchscreen PDAs without phone functionality running WM6. The 300 Series Travel Companion is not a PDA; marketed as a Personal Navigation Device, it is a handheld GPS unit operating on the Windows CE 5.0 core Operating System with a custom user interface. The 600 and 900 series are phones with integrated GPS and 3G capabilities, running the WM6 Professional. The 600 series possesses a numeric pad and the 900 series features a full QWERTY keyboard.

Search either site for “phone” and you’ll find Phone Edition as in Pocket PC Phone Edition - but after HP bought Compaq, not from Compaq itself. Sorry but I was fully in the PDA market then.

@Supa Fly - Nice link ! Yes, that's the one . . . the iPaq ! H m m m . . . I just thought of something here . . . if iPaq was introduced in the early 2000's, does that mean that the Apple products (iPhone, iPod(+), iPad etc.) was copied from . . iPaq (naming) ??!!! Btw, the images just reminded me that I need to go to the supermarket and buy - poultry products.
