I would choose the Samsung the LG and the Nokia over Apple anytime.

I feel the iphone doesn't have any real alternatives many imitate but none can duplicate

It's poor marketing IMHO - just drumming home Apple's message for them.

"Interested in the HTC Hero on Orange? Do you know that the iPhone rivals it, and all these other phones? In fact we're pointing this out because many people think it's better. Maybe you ought to pop over to O2's site and check it out first?"

Like it or loathe it, the iPhone's still a unique proposition on the marketplace, and comparisons like this only confirm that the iPhone is still the standard by which all other smartphones are measured.

Yes but the iphone imo is still over priced for something thats not that advanced in many ways. Though there was another attempt by Orange few months ago whereby they were giving away free ipod touch with contracts.

The Apple product is not even a "smart" phone by a great many peoples definition, i do sometimes wonder if you ever read your own spiel and realise just how over the top it sounds

What is the correct definition of a smartphone because i have no clue?

"The Apple Product"?? Ever read your own spiel?! There's nothing overstated in what I'm saying, the iPhone proposition is unique since nothing else comes with the polished eco-system and AppStore that the iphone's inspired. It's a complete package that not even Android phones like the Hero can match yet.

As for the silly "is it a smartphone" argument, I think that's probably best left back in 2007 where it belongs. There is no "correct" definition of the term, but these days you have to apply some pretty arbritrary and meaningless criteria to exclude "the Apple product". Best of luck if you can really be bothered.

The thing I find funniest about this thread is that the "iPhone alternatives" advertising has been around for well over a year
