So apparently R3BH and R3BA are basically the same software... Then why the difference in Java version??

Posted by glorfingal
well here's an odd one (found this with my w910i as well).
suffered the random reboot issue and reflashed from davinci the O2 UK
version of the software and the reboot has gone !!

Wonder what O2 have added/taken away that stops or corrects the
problem ?

Posted by Togan
what problems does this phone have??

Posted by nexx
I've deleted all preinstalled pictures and power-off the phone.
Now It won't power on (it reboots endlessly after SE logo).
I had to use Davinci (SEUS gives an error) to fix it.

Could someone try to delete pics and restart phone to figure if it's a FW issue ?

Posted by masterjonny8
I deleted my pics, like the bridge and such leaving only the caller picture and the SE logo and all seems to be well.

Posted by glorfingal
confirm masterjonny's verdict - deleted all install "crud" using the phones'
own interface and it'll happily reboot - experienced one random un
commanded restart after r3bh002 via SEUS. Reflashed via davinci and it's been fine since.

The only niggles are that G, E and H icons are not displayed all the
time - only when in use

Ok thanx guys, I don't understand why I get this problem. Perhaps hardware issue...

Posted by majic
Hello guys, I'am a New user to this forum, however i have been surfing this forum for over 2 years now, i upgraded from k800i to C902 about a month ago and i have a big issue on the c902, I hope someone can help me figure out a solution to this problem..

Everytime i slide open the camera to turn it on, no matter if the m2 is in the phone or not. if its in airplane more or not. the phone freezes for a long time, sometime the only way to get it back up is to take out the battery, I've tried the master reset and my phone is clean now. still having same issue. out of 10 times it might work twice and go into camera mode without freezing.
im running this software R3BA035-Hong Kong.( I got the phone imported from HK to Canada fully unlocked.

Posted by glorfingal
when you say freezes - what's displayed ? Anything or just a black screen ??

Posted by Killfr3nzy
Can someone tell me what bugs/problems the C902 has and;

- If multitasking is slow
- Media player smooth and fast enough (also when playing)
- etc.

Posted by majic
ITs Frozen on the Camera screen, like the one before it actually opens up the camera( so its black with a camera graphic)

and The phone is not smooth KillFr3zny, its something i noticed when switching from k800i which was faster. the Media is satisfactory tho, going thru the pics music etc, even playing music thru bluetooth is better then anyother phone. its a good phone im happy with is just the camera thing, maybe a new firmware will fix that when it comes out.

Posted by Wild Child
If your still on R3BA035-Hong Kong there is an update already. I got mine imported from china also with the same firmware. Menu is a bit sluggish compared to the k850i believe it or not, the camera actually is better though.

Posted by majic
Wild Child. good to hear. sony support was not aware of it lol>
is it R3BH002?
if i have a MAC OS X is there anyway i can still do it ? or do i need to find Xp or Vista?
Is upgrading the firmware hard? i've never done it mostly cause i have a mac, my k800 could use an upgrade as well LOL i still have the Original one.

Posted by Wild Child
Gonna have to find an Xp machine, some folks have reported problems when updating through Vista.

WC

Posted by majic
Thanks for verifying, i have uploaded the new firmware thru vista and everything seems to work fine now, in fact i find it faster then ever, also more smooth and bettery on battery life.

Posted by majic
after flashing with new firmware my fav. theme is gone. called the red carpet, it had really cool icons. how do i get it back? i tried to download it but the icons never change

Posted by SolidSwede
I am a bit worried about this too... themes go missing. BUT I saw somewhere that someone had uploaded them...

Posted by jakontil
3G signal strength is less??

on my other handset, the 3G signal is quite good, but then when i have C902 with the latest FW, it looses 3G signal easily

Have had my C902 (Orange contract) just over 6 weeks now, and I've had a couple of issues with the alarm.
One day it simply stopped working. It was a recurrent alarm for 7:05am. I slept in an extra 10 minutes because of it. When I tested it by setting an alarm to go off within the next 5 minutes it worked fine.
Yet at 7.05 the following day, once again it didn't go off. So, I re-installed the software/firmware (there wasn't a newer one at the time)
This seemed to do the trick.
However, just this morning, it didn't go off at the set time. It wasn't a recurrent alarm, I'd turned the 7.05am alarm on at around 10pm the night before.
I pushed the volume button on the side to see the time, and it was 7:07am. No alarm.
The alarm ringtone is an MP3 stored on the 8GB memory card. Could it be something to do with the phone going into sleep mode, and not being enough power to read the memory card?
Why would it suddenly stop working again when it's been OK for the past 3 weeks or so?

I've just installed the latest firmware, and copied the MP3 alarm tune to the phone (rather than have it read from the M2 card)

Has anyone else come across problems with the alarm before?

Let's hope the new firmware fixes whatever it was

Funny
I had the same thing this morning, the alarm didn't work!
It was a regular alarm...
First time it happens, I've had the phone for 3 weeks

Posted by SE-Naz
If you keep your phone on all the time... it is a good idea to restart it once in a while...

I have had it 2 weeks, touch wood, no issues noticed...

Also update to the latest firmware... if available...

Cheers
ENJOY

Posted by groovyf
I must admit, I do keep it on 24/7

Never had issues with the 810i keeping it on all the time, I guess the C902 isn't as robust (memory issues maybe)

I'll try regular restarts on it from now on. Thanks

Posted by SolidSwede
Mine worked for two weeks before doing this alarm thing. Also the sound cuts out for 1-3 seconds from the ear sometimes when talking... Also sometimes it gets so sluggish when writing sms...

SO I was hoping the newer FW update fixes this... but it seems it doesn't?

Anyone been in contact with SE about this?

I was thinking of debranding my phone to use SEUS to be able to update it but if it isn't fixed in that firmware yet, it seems pointless for now...

Posted by majic
It seems my issue with camera locking up is back, after new firmware was installed it worked, i think same thing happend right after disconnecting the phone from my computer without ejecting it, i just unplug it, would this currupt my camera files making it freeze on me? didnt happen on k800..

Has anyone any information on R3CA003 ?
Apparently its on SEtool now.

Posted by dodgydodgy
R3CA033 is available on SEUS now, at least for O2 customers.

For some reason they have downgraded the LCD version to an earlier one which, if it is the cause, gives problems displaying a custom wallpaper at startup (until you go into the menu for the first time).

This could be related to the scramble LCD bug where the screen turned completely to junk with coloured dots all over it (like watching a de-tuned TV) - had that happen to me a couple of time.

I've updated the first post, if anyone wants to run benchmarks I'll update those too.

Software Versions:
EROM: 1200-4341
LCD: 200712200
Camera: 1.9
Videocall Camera: 1.3
Content: PA7
Java: 8.3.1

Is this R3CA033 only for O2?

Posted by SolidSwede
Gah, it seems like it, I don't know, I flashed it with DaVinci and it didn't say O2 anywhere so I thought it was all ok, however I must say that I was suprised with how much faster it is now and it has fixed the alarm problem etc for now.

O2 is not "my" network though and it can't handle Swedish either

So I will be checking for the ordinary one...

I too have the alarm problem and only a master reset seems to cure it.

Gonna go flash with R3CA033 (although im on vodafone so may use R3BH002) and will see if that helps

DaVinci now has R3CA033 for some regions.

Does anyone have any problems when using a bluetooth headset with their phones ?

Both my HBH-GV435 and HBH-PV712 have problems where the phone cuts the connection after 3 minutes when on a call.

Have made a thread about it

http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=172937

and I've also emailed about it.

I noticed the latest firmware for the C902 R3CA033 reports the bug of the wallpaper not initially displaying on startup etc. Well i dont know if anyone else has noticed but this isn't unique to this new firmware, R3BA035 did exactly the same thing, well it did for me anyway. Even my O2 quicksilver K850i used to do it, in fact not only did it change the wallpaper it reverted the theme from whatever I had on back to O2's. However back to the C902, I noticed that it only does this with wallpaper if you set it from any picture saved on your memory card, if you set a wallpaper saved on the phones memory and reboot it all is fine and it stays there..very strange!
Also whats the battery life on R3CA033 any improvements does anyone know?

Posted by Rookwise
The wallpaper problem has been present on the W910 for a long time now as well so its not just the K850 and C902 that has the problem.
I'm getting really annoyed with these A200 platform phones. Way too many reliability issues. I'm seriously regretting moving to the new handsets and wish I'd held onto my T650 and W960 now. Not had a single problem with either of those.

Posted by mlg6968
I tend to agree with you, my two most reliable SE phones to date were the W810i and K800i both faultless. The more they try to cram into these tiny handsets the bigger the problems it would seem. The K850i was an absolute horror of a handset riddled with bugs and faults. They may have sorted it now I dont know, but I seriously doubt it. Come on SE how many phones have to have the same fault before you finally fix it!

Posted by reggiele
Sorry for my recent absence here - is the new R3CA033 firmware available on SEUS now? Thanks in advance...

Posted by Tomo1971
What is the difference between the last 2 files listed in the screen dump at the top of the page? IE the western europe files.

I am in UK and want to debrand from Voda, how would I know what files to use and are these 2 both fully debranded from any operator.

Thanks,Steve

@Rookwise

Seriously? I was under the impression, that A200 handsets were now in the clear?

Posted by Rookwise
No mate. They're not in the clear.Still lots of issues with the platform which have never been resolved since its launch.

I'm trying to update to the latest firmware (R3CA033) and I don't know which one to pick on DaVinci.

My phone started life as an O2 handset, but after I got it I flashed it to R3BH002 Customized Western European. SEUS is telling me there's no updates available for it, so which one of the DaVinci ones should I pick,

C902 R3CA033 CID52 WESTERN-EUROPE CDF1207-9853 WESTERN-EUROPE

or

C902 R3CA033 CID52 WESTERN-EUROPE CDF1208-7117 WESTERN-EUROPE

I live in the UK, donno if that affect which one I should be using, but any pointers as to the difference would be appreciated

Posted by reggiele
The differences might largely lie in the language package each of the firmwares offer...

Correct me if my understanding is wrong...

Posted by Rookwise
R3CA033 is an O2 only firmware release atm which is why SEUS wont update sim free phones to this yet.

I've tested this with my Dads O2 branded C902 and my own sim free C902.

Regarding my bluetooth issue which I posted previously. It seems that if you turn the power save mode on in the bluetooth settings. The bluetooth headsets stay connected for longer while on a call.

Posted by masterjonny8
Okay, so if I install the DaVinci version on my phone SEUS will see me as an O2 phone?

This means I'm basically undoing all my de-branding when I got the phone and I'm best off waiting for SEUS to give me the generic version?

I got myself a C902 a couple of weeks ago, and after upgrading the firmware to the latest via SEUS, a day or two passed by and the phone began to restart itself every minute. I had to leave it for repair, and they gave it back to me with R3BH002. I have had the phone for three days since then and it has restarted itself once per day. This is very annoying if it's gonna happen again and again - and I'm not gonna wait two weeks for it to be repaired once again.

Have you guys had problems with the C902 restarting itself?

Posted by masterjonny8
I had that problem on my original O2 branded model. After putting the generic RBH002 on the problem righted itself. Is yours a branded model maybe?

Posted by darknoob
My friend told me, there is a new firmware for C902 called :R3ca037
It didn't out officially, but will be very soon;)
