My fiance needs a phone for work, to use on a construction site, I was wondering what suggestions you people might have? Thanks!

The old Nokia 5210 was a builders phone if i'm correct! made of rubber and can be dropped a million times lol

The 5500 is along the same lines but symbian!

It's very robust (for a Nokia)

Saying that though being in the building trade myself one of the reasons I use is because through my experience they were the only phones that would see me through a 12 month contract, all the Nokia's I had previous died within 9 months!

3210, 3310, 8210 & 7650 after which I gave up completely on Nokia till recently!

You can still get the motorola e398. Here are some of its feautures, rubber housing, coloured screen, camera, mp3 player, memory card slot, bluetooth and many more.

5210 is the best choice!
if your jst worried tht your phone can get damaged while working, jst get an old high-end phone you know....
it will cheap so no worries there!

Apart from being an outdoor phone, what other features are you looking for? I think that will make it easy.

Ericsson R310s!

Thanks everyone for your imput. My fiance really hates Nokias, and he needs a decent camera, but apart from that, all ideas are considered. He has had the SE K810i for around 5 months now and the microphone is already damaged due to all the stuff that has ended up in it!

Poor K810...

5100 was a good phone (old as it may be). My dad had dropped it from the 4th floor of scaffolding on the site into a puddle on concrete, amazing how survived with a crack in the fascia (which needed changing) but other than that it was 100& fine.

I would opt for the n5210.The n5500 would be a great choice, but the keypad falls off within 3 months(my 2 did anyway). If nokia have solved this defect it's good. What's more, it's symbian os9.1

The distance? Quite high up

The price of the phone? £120. (relatively cheap)

Sorry but only Nokia makes phones for these purposes. SE, Samsung wont last after a few falls.

Yep QVGA is right, only Nokia make phones for these kind of purposes. The 5500 is your best bet,its a Smartphone with Symbian S60 os9.1 v3 and it has great housing which will prevent a lot of the damage his K810 has or will go through.

unfortunetaly, the 5500 truely fits the description you need...

The Nokia 5500 has keypad problems (within a few months).
