Hi guys,

My brother is under 18 and has one of these Halifax Debit Cards (Visa Electron).

He wants to buy something which is over £300 (the withdrawal limit). Can he use a chip and pin machine in stores?

i.e. could he pay in the store with his debit card rather than with cash.

Before you all moan at me to use google, I did and the Halifax site is ruuubbish!

Cheers

P.S. I think the answer is yes but would like someone who's done it to confirm taaa

I have one of these cards. I believe you can as they say the "withdrawl limit" is £300.

I've just found this in a leaflet:

"Freedom to use your Halifax Expresscash card wherever you see the Visa Electron logo in partcipating stores, so you can buy anything from clothes to Cds"

But can you go over £300?

Looking at his card it's a "Halifax Cardcash" not a "Halifax ExpressCash". Hmm

i've a barclays normal visa debit and often buy items over my £300 a day withdrawal limit.

as you say its a withdrawl limit.

using it as plastic isnt withdrawing any money as such.

Yeah, the limit only applies to taking cash out of a machine.
