Krystali of London. The custom Swarovski rhinestone mobile cell phone design studio shows the first of its 2006 range of IK:on designer mobile cell phones including an Elvis Presley tribute phone. Krystali founder and designer Philip Parrott, 35 reveals the tears and despair that have eventually created the most beautiful mobile cell phones in the world.

“Designers and artists claim inspiration from many sources, but few can claim inspiration from depression and failure," said Philip Parrott, founder of Krystali. “Ideas and the future are far away when suddenly there is no light at the end of the tunnel."

“At one point I was sat crying in a business advisors office, to his embarrassment. When you plan a business, you also start to make other plans, for your future and your family. What you want to do and where you want to go."

“When the light went out at the end of my tunnel, I literally saw no future, literally no point in going on. After a few days in the dark I told myself things could be worse. I sat down and started thinking again."

It was this soul destroying end of the road that saw Philip Parrott eventually create Krystali, home of the most fabulous mobile phones in the world.

“I had tried a number of business ideas which failed, usually due to lack of funds rather than bad ideas. Ideas need finance, difficult to get when you have nothing of your own to put up front. A problem many would be entrepreneurs face," said Parrott.

“I started looking at something I could do and sell over the internet. Something with low start up costs and low overheads. I came across the growing trend of rhinestone covered phones and accessories in the USA. A lot of experimenting and the last of any money eventually created Krystali which has developed into the business of today."

Krystali take standard factory phones, either new or customers existing phones and custom cover them in thousands of Swarovski rhinestones to any design. They produce the highest quality and most detailed phones of their type in the world.

On average a phone uses more than 3000 rhinestones no larger than a pin head. Each is individually placed by hand. A phone can take between 16 and 20 hours to cover.

As phones become standardised people are now buying phones for how they look or how they want them to look. It is how the phone looks that gets the emotional response.
