Pop-Up Joystick for Mobile Phone

9 February 2007 by axxxr
This concept design looks to make phones a little more game-friendly. By popping the center button out into an analog joystick.

It makes your phone much more capable at controlling games, if stopping substantially short of making it full-out game comfortable. Will we see this design on phones in the future? Who knows, but it certainly looks better than most phone's game controls out there now. source:gizmodo industrialdesign

suprising noone has used this idea before - look very fragile tho and se joysticks notoiriously are the week point... would be very useful tho, esp with analoge control.

LOL it will probably break if SE use this in their phones, their current use of the joystick aren’t shall we say successful.

SE should use the concept since they love joysticks

It would certanely work better on one side instead of middle. It should be the "optional gaming button" to work in cooperation with numeric keypad in order to play.

Maybe due to technical difficulties in getting it to work properly? Current SE joysticks still suffer from 'dirt-problem' after some time..

Hmmm... concept sounds quite interesting. I wonder why SE haven't thought of this, considering they still utilize the Joystick.
