Helping to Control Mobile Spam

14 July 2005 by axxxr
This flagship product will help UK consumers to control mobile spam, by enabling them to identify the source of marketing messages sent as texts to their handset, via a dedicated self-care portal.

In a week when LogicaCMG forecast the value of mobile content and downloads to triple to €7.6bn within the next 12 months, the launch of Pocket Choice is a positive and timely step towards achieving this. By enabling consumers to opt-in to messages from selected brands - and opt-out of undesirable brand campaigns - the credibility of mobile marketing will improve, leading to increased end-user satisfaction and participation. Pocket Choice will also assist wireless application providers and mobile network operators in many aspects of their mobile based campaigns, including increased transparency for consumers and adherence to EU regulations regarding mobile spam. "Pocket Reach is committed to building a trusted environment for consumers, mobile marketers and content providers," says Troy Norcross, Co-Founder and CEO of Pocket Reach, Ltd. "With Pocket Choice consumers know they are in control, making it safer and easier to engage with all types mobile data services. Everyone wins."

The Pocket Choice service provides three key elements:

* a Pocket Choice certified seal to appear on a particular mobile marketing campaign or subscription service;

* a unique identifier for all messages associated with a specific campaign;

* a portal for consumers, customer care staff and others to learn more about any Pocket Choice certified campaign and manage their mobile marketing permissions.
