Bad quality on ringtones with K750i |

Hi
Just wondering. When I play a mp3 with the mediaplayer in the phone, the quality is good. But when I use the same ringtone as a ring signal, the quality is much worse.
Itīs like the bass is turned all the way down and the diskant up.
Is this a bug, or is it possible adjust the settings with a program?

It's coming out of one crappy mono speaker so it's hardly surprising it sounds a bit naff is it!. |

Yes I know it is a mono speaker. But it plays the ring signal and the songs from the mediaplayer through the same speaker right? And if you try to play the same song with the mediaplayer, and then use it as a ring signal, you can hear the difference.
Maybe it is to save some battery or whatever..

The rings have to be more on treble and less on bass, otherwise u wont hear it and maybe this is the reason :)

I think the reason is, when you listen to anything through the media player you can only turn the volume up so high before it hits a limit.
When you use a MP3 as a ringtone, it plays much much louder unless you have the ringtone volume turned down.
For example, on mine, i have a high quality MP3 as a ringtone. When i listen to it through the media player it sounds pretty good. But, when i receive a call it plays much louder and sounds more mono with less bass.
The only way to get around it is to simply set your ringtone volume to about the same as the media players maximum volume.

Noticed the same problem, it's really annoying. Don't think it has anything to do with the volume, they seem to increase the treble when you use the file as a ringtone because the volume and quality is good when it plays on the mediaplayer. The only thing I can come up with to fix it is to lower the treble when you encode the mp3. If anyone knows another way to fix it I'd really appreciate it. Or perhaps they fix it in a new firmware...

Acutally I agree with what estaab has stated. I noticed this after purchasing my k700. It really enhances the volume for a much more noticable alert signal for a short period of time.

The difference is there but IMO is not an issue in the slightest. I tried a Samsung Z500 that uses the Media Player for ringtones and you could not hear the bloody thing even on max. I love the LOUD MP3 ringtones on the K750i and this is far more important than the quality of the sound. It's a ringtone for God's sake, you only hear it for 5 seconds, no one is listening to your ringtone thinking 'ooh that sounds a little treble heavy, could do with a bit of bass'. If you are unhappy with it spose you could always dig out an old Nokia and revert back to the beeps, whistles and bells. |
