I have just bought my K700i and it's all good save for the annoying noise it makes when taking a photo and a similar less intrusive noise when stopping and starting video clips

Is there a way to turn this off or is there a software patch I can download for it from the net of something like that.

HELP! I can't take pictures on the sly otherwise and that's the whole point of mobile cameras

I'm glad you've asked about this as I think you're the first person to notice it.

I have the latest update from the update service.
Changed from the original R2L001 but still have this revision.

It is NEVER silent when taking pictures or making movies.

I hope this is one of the "todo's" of the next FW..

What are updates then?

Are they downloadable from the sony site or do you have to take your phone to a service centre?

Also, if there is a noise for the photo surely you should be able to edit it as there must be an mp3/midi file saved somewhere on the phone

had no luck with my phone manual on this front

This has nothing to do with firmware. The coustomisation file, i believe that is the next line after firmware that has the trouble. If you change your local coustomation file, to the one that is known to have mute will do the trick.

You are going to have to forgive my complete ignorance. I have been moving ghetto for the last year with my meagre 6100

How do I change my local customisation file? Can I do it myself?

@aremaboy

Well my K700i with the latest FW from the Internet Service Center
does NOT go silent. It doesn't matter how I set the silent mode,
through C, through More, through setup or through profiles.

The clap sound is ALWAYS there aswell as the beep when starting
a movie recording.

I have read that the next FW will fix this though

I have the second edition of R2L001, the one with the PlayNow icon.

Yes.. i believe it relies soley on the Customization file, which is seperate from firmware.. see they added support for muting the sound in later firmwares.. but some Customization files block it.

Reasons behind this. In some Euro and Asia countries, they have had lawsuits and perhaps some laws passed, from what I've gathered.. theres a few European Customization files that alow muting, in the US, i believe ALL allow muting (i have US_1 file on R2L001.)

If your that desperate to kill the sound and do other things you could always invest in the software at this site http://www.davinciteam.com/
