Sorry for the delay,
I know this sounds strange, your phone came in a TIM box which is Telecom Italia. Does the IMEI number match the box you got it in.
The phone is Generic from what i understand.
APAC-ANZ is Asia, Pacific, Australia
Tim has its own branding (TIM ITALY/ BLUE TIM-ITALY)
Hope this helps
Just to follow up - the IMEI on the box matches the IMEI on the phone so this is just plain weird... Is it possible that the phone was re-flashed with the APAC-ANZ specific info? Like I said - I bought it from an individual, not a vendor but I it came with 037 firmware already loaded. Also - when going to >*<<*<* and then Service Info > Software Info I get:
prg12004404_CHINA_SO R1CA037...
Where can I get the build date on the phone? I don't see any labels on it anymore...

Going back to a comment on a previous page. Is 038 no longer available now?
My mate needs her phone updating so if its not available anymore, I'll tell her to wait until there is a new firmware released. |

I THINK THE ONLY OPTION IS TO TRY IT AND SEE WHAT YOU GET. |

its the best uppdating system for cell phones....
DPY flashing (uppdating) with EMMA server can only be done by your work shop....when you uppdate(DPY flash) with EMMA you get the firmware installed on a clean memory, etc.
when you uppdate by your build in uppdating service OR by SEUS you get (same) firmware installed layer by layer (if you understand what i mean)......
it much better to DPY flash your phone then to use SEUS

Hi All,
Ok, firstly - I work for Vodafone so have tried all the usual fixes & have consulted our Technical Support Dept' but as of yet no fix.
Upgraded my software last night and all was fine. Browsed the web this morning.. still looking good...
..but then when trying to get on DailyMail.com at lunch, I got:
"Proxy server error. Please check the URL and try again. HTTP 400 Bad Request"
Tried another site and got the same. And another, and another.. Infact every non-Vodafone Live page I tried to get onto I got the same error. Tried it on the store phone (R1DA029) and the sites were fine.
I've changed my SIM, Sent new OTA configs, manually input the settings, hard resets, manual roams.. everything and still no joy.
Anyone got any ideas on this or experienced anything similar?
Also, my rss feeds no longer update.. according to the phone "No feed exists at this adress".
Clueless. - and since I use my phone mainly to look at the web.. its a right pain.
I posted this elsewhere but thought it was quite relevant to the thread too.Any help greatly appreciated.

Clearly a lie as it still says that my phone is up to date.

@plankgatan
By calling it DPY flashing you are kind of misrepresenting what it actually is. From what I can tell its a simple BINFS format before flash. OS gets removed but the bootloader stays intact (unlike SEUS which does not perform the BINFS format).
DPY is the acronym SE use to show what region your phone was sold to. All phones have a DPY code on the IMEI label under the battery cover and this code defines the region the phone should come from.
EMMA uses the CDA code to select your appropriate firmware for flashing. This is how SESC can tell if you have flashed the phone with a different region's firmware. They would be able to look at the DPY code and CDA code and see that they don't match up. That is the only use I have seen for the DPY.

lets just wait n see what SE can offer to us on 20th of Jan (hopefully the date is correct since SE websites only mention January 2008, not the date =p) |

I'm starting to think I was better off with my k750i :S
Relax bro, that's what SE always doin on their first fone release, even with the great n legendary ol' k750i...
i bought one about 2.5 years ago (few weeks after it was released) and what happened? it hangs frequently and randomly restarts itself that i have to trade it 3 times and perform FW update twice to make it the better fone until now...
who knows, after few decent updates (just like the k750i), the k850i will become another legendary SE fone, we'll just wait n see
