I've said that more times than I can remember but its one of those subjective things where my preference is probably different from your preference

@Xugaa, its strange sometimes what decide to remove from one phone to the next. perhaps they figured this was a feature that should only be in walkman phones

everything is opinion with this type of thing

se might decide to remove a feature from a phone because of one panel of respondees to a survery but then reallise their mistake from complaints and add it in again, or vice versa, they might add a feature that the few want but have to remove it again because of complaints

what we have to remember is that se only have what survey respondees and end users have to say, and usually the number of people who can be bothered to respond to se about problems or things they like/dislike is very small, and in most cases nowhere near a complete representation of the whole userbase of sony ericssons products, so all that sony ericsson (and most other companies) can do is guess based on what these people say what everyone else wants or doesnt want

occasionally, as we all know, this can fail miserably and a product can flop completely, but i think sony ericsson are doing a fantastic job in figuring what their users want - as one of my customers said a while back when i gave him too much change, "everyone makes mistakes"

therefore, instead of always slagging companies off about not putting a certain feature in one phone but putting it in another is in no way a reasonable way to go about things, you have to remember what companies have to work with when designing a new product and approach them kindly with suggestions rather than demands - the best way anyone can help make products better is by taking the time to fill in surveys and feed back to companies in constructive ways about how they might be able to improve their products next time - companies like sony ericsson are much more likely to listen like that

sorry, while writing this i reallise this might not be the right place for it, so i will probably copy and paste it around other threads

i guess we had the best of technology on the first wave of walkman phones and i guess like 1 poster said w900 is the best of both worlds for a phone. besides the cam on phones are just for impromtu shooting, no one really uses their phones cam to catch scenery or anything important. thats what a real cybershot would do. but i still like the convergence of an mp3player a cam,a [phone.

well considering the natural progression of phones I think its fair to say there will eventually be a W series phone with the same 3.2mp camera as the K800. Theres no way that from now onwards the W series phones will never have more than a 2mp camera.

Probably there will be a new serie, like the X series or Y series and so.

Oh I too believe this, though I also believe that a 3.2mp W series phone will not come out until either the K800 has past its time or after a while when a new Cyber-Shot phone comes out with an even better camera. SE won't do what they did with the K750/W800 again now that they are separating the two series', music and imaging, mainly due to the fact that if a Walkman phone comes out just after the K800 with the same camera, there will be no point in the K series and also people will perhaps start to not get the K series phones due to the thought that a W series phone will come out soon after with the same camera and a better music player as well.

Ultimately SE would loose money if they did the K750/W800 move again, it was alright then but now it would be disasterous with the two series separating and all, ecspecially for the K series.

Well said Xugaa. But I'd have to say that the money loss would't be as bad as you say it might be. The k750 and W800 both did very well. Why would it change?

Because as I said, with SE separating the two series the Cyber-Shot series wouldn't sell so well if a Walkman phone came out with the SAME camera and obviously with a better music player.

K = Imaging

W = Music

IF...

K = Imaging

W = Music + same K imaging

WHAT WOULD BE THE POINT OF...

K = Imaging

WHEN YOU CAN HAVE...

W = Music + same K imaging

=

K = Crash and burn, no more Cyber-Shot phones.

SE makes the W series very flashy and trendy with the targeted audience of less than 20 years. So even if they made a full fledge W series with 3.2MP camera, the K series would still sell. After all, the K750 was a hit for a reason.

Yeah I'm sure it would, but if that were to happen there would be no advantage to getting what you thought would be THE Sony Ericsson imaging handsets, they would be no different or better specs wise. I think that if this did happen (which it won't) it would only be fair that the K series would then get Walkman media players with all their functions and features...

Also giving the W series the same imaging capabilities plus of course their Walkman media players, it would make the K series seem inferior and not as good everytime to the W series.

All I am after is a phone like the K800i, but I must be allowed to use my own headphones!

Is there a way to do that?
