Got this info courtesy of the rumour mongerers over on SE-NSE 
it will be a high-end clamshell walkman phone, to succeed the z800i.
Specs will be 1Gig internal memory, Expandable up to 4Gig ProDuo.
3G, 2 megapixel cam.
Silver Stylish look.
Html browser.
Long battery life.
Special music dial.
Walkman player 2.
Stereo speakers.
FM radio.
Announced in Mid July
index will be either w880i or w910i

At last something that looks more than a rebranded handset. The music dial should be interesting too.
EDIT: Rumour has it that it may be green in colour.

Just rumour I'm afraid. When pics appear I will post. It says mid July which is rougly 10 days time so i wouldn't be surprised if they leaked soon.

a few more clamshells are good to compete with other brands.
i myself like most people keep it to a candybar phone.
a green phone would be quite nice, it would also fit the SE logo.
With Ericsson and Nokia gone: we must keep their spirits alive and buy JOLLA or YOTA |

I'd like to see a slim handset appear. As slim as the as the K610i at least.
The "special misic dial", could that be a jog-dial? It seems to re-appear in certain phones every now and again. |

Ahhhh! Yeah, that may be it.
You push it in to play or pause and turn it (or roll) it to << or >>.
That might be it. How that would fit on a clamshell though, would need some imagination.
I am imagining a V3x with that roll dial sticking out of the bottom. |

Why do  seem to be replacing handsets with the walkman equivalent? I loved the Z800i one the the best phones i had but i will not be buying the successor if it is walkman branded.

If they can make it as durable as the jogdial on the P-series it should be good but like you say I've also got concerns about how possibly they might fit this dial onto a clamshell. How will I use said dial when I'm wearing a tight pair of jeans, phone is in my pocket and I want to skip a song.
Like most things Japanese I'm afraid this dial is a bit of a novelty. Would love to see the spy pics if they ever become available.

just been looking on the google trnaslated version of the se japan website and this phone looks amzing!!!!!!
but from what i understand it only can have up to 1gb and has 1.25 mp camera
someone plz correct me if im rong tho

@spikeyjac: The rumoured phone is not the same one pictured in this thread, the only similiarity is the music button at the bottom.
And no, the W42S is as good as a doorstop outside Japan.
